Battlefield 2 Crashing to Desktop

I have been playing Battlefield 2 alot and know it crashes to my desktop when i just get to the map to play. Yesterday and this morning my computer was also turning off and restarting by itself(Hasn't done it the rest of the day). I have updated my driver's for my graphics cards and i think i have the latest patch for BF2. How do i fix this?

that is your problem the 1.3 patch for BF2 introduced this bug... it happens to everyone

mine does this occasionally as well. i just start it back up and it's fine.

Are you using Xfire? If so theres a fix, if not, ive no idea what the problem is.

Yeah I hate it. You click join game and BAM desktop. I've had it happen up to 3 times in a row before. I nearly had a damn fit.

Weird, I blamed this on the x-fi beta drivers since I didn't start noticing this until I installed those (now the drivers are out of beta) At least this doesn't consitently happen to me because it PISSED me off big time!

I've had this happen before too... and I just got X-Fire today. I guess it's the new patch? Pathetic. ****** game has been out > a year and it crashes to desktop because of a new patch. I swear they require(d) their coders to be stoned, drunk, and type with their eyes closed.

Still I can't stop playing it.

yep its patch 1.3 and hopefully its going to addressed in patch 1.4

I've had this for awhile even before the 1.3 patch I think. It seems like its only after a restart though. If I reboot it happens once. After that its good to go. Of cource until I reboot again... It doesn't always happen but a good % of the time it does.
