Are these system requirements serious?

Windows 8 64 bit
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 2.83 GHz or AMD Phenom II X6 1045T 2.7 GHz
Nvidia GTX 660 / HD 7870 3GB
HDD atleast 30 GB
RAM whooping 8 GB atleast.

Can you run this game on a machine that does not meet these requirements? Say a 2.2ghz quad core and a gtx 260?

the 2.2GHz should be fine (but framerate will suffer), as for the 260 I'm not sure, if this game requires DX11 you will not be able to play it with anything older than the 5800 series (GTX 400 for NV).

BF4 runs with DX10 cards, I would expect the same from this game... if it's the case the 260 have more than enough power to run the game at lower settings.

It certainly doesn't look like it should be harder to play than BF4. I would suggest you apply for the beta and see what happens, it is free.

I ran it on a Q9650 8GB gtx 260. Graphics were low but it ran. Takes a long time to load, like 3-4 minutes

Remember that this is a Beta testing the MP portion of a game. So the requirements for smooth game play are going to be higher. They are probably still aways from finishing optimizations and MP game-play is usually more stressful than SP.

That said now with more VRAM available on the New Gen consoles, I think there will be a big jump in PC gaming requirements coming. It'll probably settle down in a year or two.

Having Windows 8 as a recommended requirement is a must for BF4 or Hardline, more so for BF4. Good improvements to be had. Last time i played BF3 though i had more issues with that game on 8.1 then i did with BF4 on W7 so you could imagine i was pissed off there.

I have to make a dual partition of W7/W8.1 cause certain games get all stupid on W8.1, its the days of vista/xp all over again for me anyways.

I don't understand how anybody could possibly have any interest in this game after the utter disaster that is BF4. Are people's memories really that short?

Is the BF4 DLC content even finished being released?

I mean why don't we just have EA garnish our paychecks at this point?

BF 4 was rough for one month. It has been fine ever since. People love to complain though. "Netcode" is short for "I suck." I've played the game fine on two machines in two different parts of the country. One of the PCS is 4 years old...

BF4 ran fine on Windows 7 with a 4 year old PC. 6950 video card.

We are all terribly sorry for you :'(

Please accept our sympathies that you have to suffer such horrifying digital abuse, and we hope that you can escape that travesty as soon as possible.

I'm seriously thinking this is the worst 'major' release of the decade so far. It's quite amazingly bad in almost every respect. There's a lot less going on, but the graphics are STILL a big step down from even BF3, and BF4 looks miles better (even though BF3 played better and was more stable than BF4).

EA needs to be careful with the BF brand, for real. They're well on their way to killing it.

Brief history (IMHO)

BF1942 : Amazing game. Not perfect, but super ambitious, and fun, lots of depth. Loved being able to play with bots.

BF1942 mod : Desert Combat : One of the most amazing mods of all time, and really set the stage for the future. For a community mod, this is spectacular work.

BF Vietnam : Disappointing, but wasn't truly horrible. Just mediocre.

BF2 : Boom, baby. Balance issues aside, it really raised the bar in so many areas. Just a fantastic title. No, the gun mechanics weren't perfect, and a pro in a jet could go 100-0 for 100 rounds in a row, but there was so much magic here.

BF2142 : I never got into this, but it did have a lot of dedicated fans that swore on it's quality, so I'll take their word for it.

BFBC1 : Never played it, so I have no idea.

BFBC2 : Liked it a lot, but felt the scope didn't live up to BF2. Pretty awesome step up in engine quality for sure.

BF3 : One of my favorite FPS of all time. No, definitely not perfect, but I had countless hours of fun with this one. I even grew to like Origin+Battlelog system, and had very very few issues ever with it.

BF4 : Meh. I don't hate it per se, but the vehicles feel sluggish/crappy to me. I also had hordes of technical problems until I literally wiped a spare SSD and ran it on 8.1 (even though 100s of other games worked flawlessly on the W7 Pro load, go figure). I can't put my finger on what it is, but it's just not FUN to me.

BF : HL : The worst FPS I've played perhaps ever (major publishers).

BF3- No built in voip, so people on ts together wiped the floor with everyone else. BF4- Added voip back in. Much better game and a bunch of big improvements.

Keep in mind that aside from BF, I don't buy EA games, including "Bioware's."

I don't think it's a bad game, it just doesn't warrant being a new $60 game over BF4. BF4 owners should get this for $14.99

BF4 ran fine on Windows 7 with a 4 year old PC. 6950 video card.

Must have a i7 or some beastly 6 core processor, i had a stuttering on 7 with a nearly maxed out i5 . W8.1 resolved that.

Kinda fun trying to figure out why you got gpu usage well under 70% and some spots your sitting at 57fps but suddenly swap your os and that same spot gains 10 fps.......no action or nothing, its you sitting looking at some stupid building on a empty server lol.

Of course fine to some people is 40fps minimums with 50+ average knowing their gpu is the limit of performance.

It looks like they will be annoucing another battlefield game come June 9th

Battlefield: Hardline

Seems like they are starting to milk the game now if you ask me but IMO I hope its a game similar to BC2 as I really enjoyed that version. What are your thoughts on this?

Judging by some pics on the site I don't think it will be a game with the size of a normal BF game.

Gameplay video(thanks to Miklebud): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JELERWnsdeg

Gameplay vid is blocked on copyright bS.

My response to this game so far, well, It's a game...

I have a Q6600, No OC @ 2.4 GHz. 6 GB of RAM (2 GB was bad) and a GTX 560 TI. Will this suffice?

I just reserved a 40gb partition for this game for testing on Windows 7, will see how it fares compared to Windows 8.1.

Got some major mouse input issues, can't seem to figure it out and the update Microsoft put out that resolves this issue in some games did jack, hence the testing of this game on 7 as this game does it equally as much as BF4.

No input lag on Hardline Beta with W7, not sure if my input lag issue is cause of a corrupted file in W8.1 or something or if anyone else is experiencing this?

Performance on Hardline beta was incredibly smooth on W7, last time I ran W7 I was stuttering hell of a lot in BF4.Don't really have this issue with this game but perhaps my new i7 makes all the difference?

These foreign servers are like Russian Roulette, i have found a new source of comedy and that is this game.

Sit like a good boy in a 1 person queue for 3 minutes,go to close it and get a popup about me already leaving before i tried to close the queue?. The interceptor frozen in mid air is fun, reminds me of a cheesy 80's film where the end of the movie ends in a freeze frame. The interceptor randomly freezing in a high speed pursuit,i know this one is ping related but still cute.

Oh yeah the icing on the cake is the attempt of me joining one server, get rejected cause its full while Battlelog gives me a 26/32 report, refresh the page and suddenly i am magically in the game but hey wheres the EXE? LOL. Have to close Chrome cause this popup refuses to allow me to join in any other server.

I can't even bring myself to really investigate this game. I sense a low quality product. Its like a spidey sense, and its tingling.
