I can't even bring myself to really investigate this game. I sense a low quality product. Its like a spidey sense, and its tingling.

All I wanna do is experience the single player unless new game modes and optimizations come out for the full game. To be honest I don't want to pay $60 bucks for it since I would probably get it for ps4 to play with friends.

I hear ya. Since its a BF game, I will eventually take a look at it of course. So far I'm not overly excited based on the vibe I get, but I haven't tried it either. We'll see.

A highly clocked first generation i7 is still pretty competitive, beastly overclock and it will hold up I am sure. The first intel 6 core is almost 4 years old as well.

It is an i5-2400, non overclocked. It is now my son's computer.

I believe you now, purely cause of my input lag issue on 8.1 caused me so much grief i went back to W7 today. Can say the few updates since my last experience has changed the game majorly. Performance is still all over compared to 8.1 but honestly its silky smooth on 4 core/4 thread. Bit smoother with ht enabled on the i7 but the gains are more seen on 8.1 honestly.

Had my fun with this game, its beta but god i hope they learned their mistakes of releasing a half baked game on launch day. The bugs are excusable but some are just so way out there i figured this at best was rushed out. Others may feel differently about this.

I feel much could very well change when it debuts but its highly likely to not be a high priority game with support and updates with BF4 being their current blockbuster. Expect a broken game for a good while if BF4 is anything to go by.

where does this even fit in the BF collection?

It doesn't and it should not be called battlefield but I don't know what the heck they would call it with the weird gameplay modes.

I just hope the single player is not 5 hours and sucks because I can't get into the mp that much no matter how many times I get into the beta to play a match. At one point I was like what were they thinking. It seemed they just ran out of ideas.

I've only downloaded this beta and haven't played it yet. Personally, I love the battlefield series for the squad based gameplay with in game voip. I like the pacing, combined with the scale of the maps, collapsibility, etc. I actually rarely use vehicles, and if I do, I ask my friend to pilot and I gun. The vehicles are just too easy and would ruin my K/D ratio by inflating it.

My most played vehicle is 11/318 hours played.

BF4 is great, but severely lacking in infantry only maps. Maybe this game will fill that need.

I've always liked the bf series and I also have a lot of fun playing with friends when we work together. For what it's worth this is just a beta and I expect the full game to be better. It's just another setting and I feel it should have been called something else.

From what I saw in videos the story trailers look good and Visceral is known for decent single player so there's that. I would play the tutorial first as it tries to explain some of the game modes since there are only two available in the beta.

But they don't make too much sense as in the heist it's obvious you have to stop the robbers but in blood money the police have to steal back the money as evidence for some reason and either side can also steal it and bring it to their vault. The other game modes like hostages make sense.

This thing should be a "$10 expansion pack" at worst, a free mod at best. I can't believe people are actually going to drop $70 for this.

Anyone that ever pays retail for a game is a fool anyway. Even BF4 had 25% off coupons for preorder.

For a full blown AAA Single Player campaign by Visceral ? Why do you feel this way?

By full blown what do you mean? I hope it will not be as short as bf4. I liked the bf3 campaign better although that too seemed short.

Or you could say why would someone run around the same map for hundreds of hours just shooting people with no story. Each to his own. Personally, I like single player when the campaign in good, but the last shooter with a good single player game IMO was Modern Warfare 4.

Yea for the story mainly. Modern warfare comes to find, spec ops the line has a decent story, and some levels have cool effects.

"Story" in video games are almost always jokes, including rpgs. Teamwork, competition, outsmarting the other team, and beating them at the game. It is no different than why anyone plays a competitive game against anyone. People don't need a "story" for a board game, sport, etc. It is the human competition, challenge, camaraderie, etc.

Have you played the last of us ? A game like that since exists primarily to tell a story although it has multiplayer that isn't what it is known for. At the same time I do realize people will get tired of zombie games.

Visceral....Visceral.... I would assume it would be between 14 and 20 hours. BF3 and BF4 had SP campaigns basically stapled on, same thing for a lot of the CoD's.

Best way people could think of this game as a Cops and Robbers SP game that just happens to use the Battlefield name because EA thought it would be better to place it into an existing Franchise rather than having Visceral start a new Franchise. It also keeps the BF franchise active without forcing Dice to make it an annual release. So they have Visceral stylizing it off of BF.

If it was just going to be yet another MP game with a tacked on SP Campaign then they would have used a different studio than Visceral or just added another team to Dice. But instead they are having a studio that has only done SP games doing this one. A nice bonus is that it's a two cop team, which means that there is probably going to be a strong Co-op option for the SP campaign.

I don't know why people need to put down other people's gaming preferences to prop up their own. There are a lot of great stories in gaming and even when there isn't, a lot of people enjoy the attempts at developing a decent story and treat them like they would a summer popcorn blockbuster on the screen. I enjoy a decent story in SP game over my lack of skill in MP while having to listen to some hate filled vile rant of some twelve year old who thinks he's gods gift to gaming. But I wouldn't think less of someone who did enjoy that kind of thing.

Honestly, I don't understand why anyone plays single player FPS games period, let alone why they would be interested in a BF one.

The last SP I went all the way through was Bad Company 2, before that was Half-Life 2 when it first came out. I have very little interest in singleplayer campaigns in a multiplayer centric game. Funny that BF4 requires you to play parts of singleplayer to unlock certain weapons that you can't get in multiplayer and even then I haven't gotten that far to even bother (only made it to the courtyard in the rain before I lost interest). The Call of Duty SP's are bland and dull.

I however don't mind SP games like Metal Gear Solid or Thief that can be played once in a while.

I've played over 300 hours of BF4 and have yet to hear a SINGLE 12 year old use voip. This excuse is tiresome to hear. A majority listen and use teamwork even if they don't personally use a microphone and the ones that do use a microphone are able to contribute immensely even if they are not particularly skilled. I play on PC, so maybe the majority of the console players are lower. This would not surprise me. Though, i wouldn't be caught dead playing a fps on console.
