don't think i have seen laphroaig. will have to look and see if its around and try it then.

It's the kind of whiskey which taste you cannot aquire, you either like it or you don't.

You want the 10 year variant, trust me on this, it doesn't get better with age. For some reason this whiskey turns to pisswater if aged.

It's not one of the most expensive original single malts but it is by far the one with the most character.

You want it as it is, no water in or on the side and no ice.

before spending money on it just dump a tablespoon of liquid smoke into a shot of vodka. if you don't gag, you might like laphroaig.

Or piss in a glass and drink it and you might like any American Beer if you like that.

The comparison is valid, there is nothing correct about yours and nothing correct about mine either.

I assume you're not a fan of Laphroaig but that just means that you are not one of those who like it, nothing more. It's not smokey AT ALL and anyone who has actually tasted it knows that. To think that the taste comes from burnt wood is retarded at best and exceptionally stupid at worst, take your pick.

Yes, it is one of the most tastful whiskeys you can drink but it is in NO WAY smokey in it's taste.

Besides, it's a lot cheaper than most other whiskeys even though it is THE original single malt.

Bullshit. It's true the flavor doesn't come from wood, it comes from peat, but to say it isn't smoky leaves me questioning whether or not you've ever had it.

It's not smokey, if you ever had ANY whiskey stored in pure oak then you'd know that.

Same goes for Lagavulin, it's not smokey in the taste either, it's just that you got shit taste.

I've probably drink more Laphroaig than every member of this forum combined, i was raised on it.

Now take a piss in a glass and drink that and compare it to any American fucking microbrew OR other version of their pissy beer and tell me that they don't taste piss in the same way Laphroaig tastes like smoke. You can't fucking compare tastes that don't fit together because your poor sense of taste can't do any better.

You want a whiskey that actually HAS smoke essence added to it, look no further than Bells, Latitude55 or even fucking Jack Daniels. Those ALL have smoke essences added, Laphroiag does NOT.

Laphroaig isn't that smokey.

Lagavulin, on the other hand, is beyond my tolerance.

Talisker made a distiller's edition not too long ago which hit my personal mark for peatey-ness ('not very' ). I tend more towards Speyside malts, tho...

Indeed i do know how the Single Malts are made, i've been there and watched the process.

It is NOT the same as how Whiskey is made if that is what you thought.

I suggest you just shut the fuck up on the matter because while you may think you have a clue on this subject, you do not.

For laphroaig the entire process has to do with the way it's stored, that is why it gets LESS flavour over time, not more.

How about you, ever visited the Islay? What year and how much time did you spend reviewing the process?

Did you know that laphroaig is owned by an American company?

Dude, you don't know what you're talking about. The fact that you were told, AND saw the process is even worse, you're either lying, or brain damaged. There's nothing magical about single malt. It fuckin' IS whisky. "single malt" is the type of whisky(btw, there's no fuckin' "e" in whisky).

Since you're the expert, why don't you enlighten us peons on how whisky is made. I'm sure it'll be quite educational :^D

Craft/Indie Beers
-Cameron's Dark
-Lake of Bays Rousse
-Innis & Gunn Original
-Fuller's London Porter
-Garrison Red & Nut Brown

Commercial Beers
-Rickard's Red
-Alexander Keith's Red or Dark

As you can see, I'm quite partial to red and dark beers. Garrison is one of my favourites but it's almost impossible to get outside Nova Scotia.

To each his own. Craft beer is taking the nation by storm, and that is not a bad thing.

My own, local micros, and national micros mostly.

If I'm on the river, Coors, since it's the closest thing I can get to water to keep myself hydrated.

Typically I only drink my own beer (except when out at restaurants and bars), but this weekend I took a growler of Bare Hands Breweries Rye ale to a family gathering. It was amazing.
