Beheadings in Iraq

I just heard on the news that 60 people have been found in Iraq murdered in the last day. Most of them beheaded.

How can our cultures be so different that what is common in Iraq is barbaric here?

You would have to be fcuked in the head to want to chop off someones head. I would not even consider watching the footage of beheadings on the net.

These people are stuck in the middle ages hundreds of years behind civilization.

One of the statements you hear is how the only crime they feared before was from thier govt.
Now security is lower because there is no dictator to control them through fear.
At some point and time to be successful a society must decide that self control and accountability are desirable things.
Its like a spoiled child that cannot modify its own behaviour.
They have never learned how.

Anyway, severing someone's head isn't any differant than shooting or injecting them, except that it is meant to appear gruesome. Of coarse it sucks to be the victim unless they kill you in some less painful manner first then take your head off.

What we are seeing is the first signs of a civil war---and a power struggle on who gets to be the local war lord.

Ok---imagine this situation---you are a resident of a midwestern USA city---but anarchy prevails---and suddenly there is a schism between city residents who have blue eyes vs. brown eyes. Regardless what color your eyes are you say I am not playing this game. The next morning you see 100 dead people with your eyes color dead in your city--and the next day same thing. So you go to the cops--except there are no cops--finally you find the local strongman or war lord who promises to protect you--but you have to join his gang and start killing people with the other color eyes. After some time one side or the other gains the upper hand---and the minority flees--and may then become the majority somewhere else.Pretty soon the local warlord runs out of booty from the deposed minority--and turns to open crime of all sorts.

We can't blame Bush for barbaric practices like beheading, but he's dead ass at the center of why we're there in the middle of it.

Of course, beheading is crazy, but it kills only one person at a time. It takes a real whacko to play make believe commando in chief and send thousands to die in a war based on lies. :|

It's like scalping, it's a terror tactic. Little do other cultures know that nothing scares american. A terror tactic is meant to look worse than it is. The belief is that you can sink the enemies spirit into not fighting through revulsion.

It's economics. Bullets cost money, chopping off heads is free. Plus as a bonus, you can carry around the head... you ever try and carry around an entire dead body? No fun.

Christian crusaders used the severed heads of arabs as cannon balls lobbed over the walls of arab cities back in the day.

iraqi beheading bah...3/10 for style, at least the europeans had fancy guillotines worthy of kings (or queens)
