Not one iota of proof of this statement which is par for the course for these people.

No, not fixed. Taking money from people is only half of the problem. If he's also teaching people things like "If you're sick it's because you don't have enough faith." then he's teaching lies about what the Bible says and also destroying people's self-worth. This guy's got a LOT more wrong with him than just being a con man. He's perverting the truthes of Christianity (I know many of you believe they aren't truthes to begin with, but give me some latitude) and I think that both solid believers AND non-believers can see that what he is doing is evil.

Out of all the television preachers I know of only 3 scandals, Peter Popoff, I think that is his name, the Bakers, and Jimmy Swaggart. So 3 out of thousands is hardly a sign a scandal ridden.

yet you think it's a sign when virtually 3 "unexplained" phenomenon occurs out of thousands attemps? can you say hypocrisy?

Ok you tell me what lifestyle a preacher is suppose to live according to Phokus?

I'm not Phokus and I don't see living big as a sin issue, but the Bible does teach that where a person's treasure is, there is where their heart is too. This man teaches a DIFFERENT message than what Jesus and the Apostles preached. The OLD TESTAMENT was all about Earthly (physical) symbols of the spiritual truthes of the New Testament.

Name one person in Jesus circles that cared a lot about money. I can... Judas. How about a couple of others... Annanias and Sophira. Shame that all those three people ended up outside of the faith and DEAD. Paul, the one who wrote most of the New Testament said that although he had a RIGHT to demand food/shelter/clothes from those he preached to, he worked instead because it was the BETTER thing to do so that no one could accuse him of having ANY other motive than preaching the Gospel of Christ.

The riches and glory that are given to believers is peace of mind here and ETERNAL life and glory later. This guy (and others) of the so called Faith-Word movement are no different in kind than the false apostles who Paul spoke out against.

Hinn and his cohorts are bad news and DO NOT represent Christianity.

I don't know what it's called, I think it's called catching the holy ghost or something, but anyways... the preacher did that thing where he touches people on the forehead and they fall over and become "healed" etc. to her...

She is completely skeptic because well, she's a Dr. of Psychology, a psychoanalyst, professional in hypnosis etc. and several other related fields, BUT, she did say when the preacher touched her it completely knocked her out.

She said she didn't have some great experience, or felt changed or anything. In fact she just said it just felt like getting knocked out, which to this day she can't explain.

I thought that was pretty cool.

NOTE : She did say that it did absolutely nothing for her. Her life didn't change, it didn't give her better eyesight etc. but she did say that you can really get knocked out just by them touching you somehow.

when i went to church i was always uncertain about stepping up front for prayer.

then one day, this guy who used to travel with benny hinn who was at our church called me out, up front for prayer. i didnt like it, but i was raised in church, and thought (foolishly) that i was finally going to feel something, get something out of it after being semi-unsure for some time.

he prayed blah blah, touched me and...nothing, i stood there, and then he *pushed* me firmly to the floor.

yes, pushed. another man came a few months later and wanted to pray for *everyone* in the damn place (that took a good 3 hours) and he was a pusher too; feck that, it was the last straw, i quit going a couple of weeks later. crazy bastards pushing people all over the place...i hope they get ingrown toenails on BOTH feet at once.

i believe in this "faith healing" as though it were a placebo: you think its going to work, so something works. not always, and not for everyone, and not always permanently (if at all)

a few months ago my dad stood on a bucket and hurt his knee...because hes quite over weight and tried standing on a bucket; which somehow didnt strike him as a terrible idea. so he goes to church, gets prayer and tells me the next day hes "healed"

5 days later hes popping ibuprofen every 6 hours and wearing a knee brace because it was hurting again. he didnt think anything of it...

my mother has had glasses for years; and about 10 years ago this guy prayed for her, and "healed" her eyes....this lasted a few months and then she was wearing them again, never questioning whether or not she had been actually "healed".

i did, and she didnt think it at all odd...how thats possible is beyond me. after that i wouldnt buy into faith healing unless i was guaranteed some of the profit.

What exactly did Hinn do?

I dont recall Christ keeping all the money and use it for a lavish lifestyle. On another note, wouldnt a "true" man of God use some of his immense wealth for good? Id sure as hell respect him if he sold his house and car and used the proceeds to help victims of the tsunami or the like.

Why should anyone give money to this guys church? Does he need gold teeth?

Hinn oozes sleaze, just watch his performance. You have a better chance of receiving a Miracle from an Image of the "Virgin Mary" that appears on some guys coffee table then going to a money grubber like Hinn. He's a Conman.

The sad fact is that Hinn is not alone in his fleecing of the gullible and desperate If you want a REAL eye-opener into the world of these crooks, read this book:

The Faith Healers by James Randi

This book was a fascinating read that had me sad, upset, and furious (that these people can get away with this!!!!!!)

James Randi is a retired magician who now heads a foundation to educate the public on the false claims of charlatans like these "faith healers" (and others). He Recently was asked to lend his expertise for a similar show about this charlatan called 'John of God" by ABC. THAT piece was done so poorly it
prompted Randi to devote an entire one of his weekly articles to the debacle:

James Randi's SWIFT commentary on the ABC John of God show

Classy, glad that your baby came out fine, but I can assure you that Benny Hinn had nothing to do with it.

It is beyond question that he is a fake. Believe all you want, but he is a fake.

Hinn completely scares me because of his message's impact on people for three reasons.

Firstly, he discourages people from getting really medical help, quite often meaning that somethign that could have been easily healed will advance to the point that it is unhealable (save a miracle, which sadly don't seem to verifiably happen with great frequency).

Secondly, Christians love to bash the Jews of Jesus' day for looking for a king to come on a white horse and lead them to freedom from Rome, hence why they overlooked him as the messiah. Aren't we doing the same thing when we only view him as our doctor or our investment banker? How is that any different than what we (christians) criticize the jews for believing? And anyway, Jesus came to offer life everlasting, not life neverwanting.

Thirdly, (from a christian perspective), this guy completely corrupts your faith in God. What happens to me when I become sick and don't get better? Does that mean my faith wasn't strong enough? Or, does it lead me to believe that God perhaps is false? Those are the only two possible outcomes. I have yet to come across a 150 year old Christian. We have a church in Manitoba that's huge into faith healing etc, the last time I checked they had handicapped parking spots, and I know for certain that they have funerals there.

And this Himm guy isn't? He spent like $10,000 a night at some presidential suite. He steals money from his own organization and gives it to family. The dude owns a mansion that's worth like $5,000,000. He even owns his own jet.

He's such a great christian :disgust:

Hmmm the richest people of the Bible were children of God. Where do people get this because your christian, being broke means your humble? Its total ignorance of the Bible and what being a christian really is.

Wow this explains a lot.

Also read your Bible sometime instead of letting Benny Hinn tell you what it says.
