BEST alternative for MS WORD

i know this must have been discussed before, coz nothing ever is
left out by this forum ,but typed all keywords in and couldnt
find any relevant threads/faqs so please do post links to the
previous thread/faq or treat like a new query

simply love the alternate thinking folk in here

the question: what do you think is the BEST alternative
to monopolistic MS WORD out there?

You can't forget about Word Perfect 9. Great with graphic images too.

WordPerfect Office 11 is a good program as well. It can read and save in Word ".doc" format. Approx $40 + shipping at DirectDeals
