I think anime is stupid... but I have watched that entire series.
It is great!

Are you familiar with the phrase: Does not Compute.

Agreed.

I surprised no one has mentioned Bleach yet. I thought it was great. They hit a filler gap for a while, but last I saw they were back on track.

Oh shit, I forgot.

NGE is my favorite anime of all time.

Did you watch it for the robots or for the ridiculous deep-ness of it?

I watched it for the stick figure animation at the end. That is the only good reason to watch it!

how about that one five-minute scene where he's holding Kaworu/Kaoru, about to crush him, and the hallelujah chorus (at least thats what I think was playing) just plays for like... 5 minutes?

The reason they did the whole stick-figure thing and blank screen thing was because they ran into budget problems halfway through, I believe.

On a side note, aren't they remaking the ending to NGE? I remember reading about it here a while back but haven't heard anything since. I found this wiki page but I'm not really sure.

I haven't watched it in a while, so I have no idea what this stick figure thing you guys are referring to is

There's a lot of self-contemplative dialogue in the last two episodes, and what they do is they have a black screen, and whenever speech is heard, a white blip flies past the screen (like the life monitor thing). Something like that, I think. I haven't seen it in a while either.

Rebuild is a retelling of the entire series and an alternate ending I believe. From what I understand the bulk of Rebuild will be the same as the TV anime, but presented in a manner that is more accessible to non-fans.

I've also heard stuff about a live-action movie, but when I don't know. Gainax really likes milk the Eva franchise, that's for sure.

Rebuild of Evangelion: You are (not) Alone, came out in Japan September. Its a retelling of NGE and in Movie 2, the story will shift away from the series into something completely different (New Characters) and events. Kaworu knows everything that happened in the original series, and Lilith is on the moon with Kaworu for some reason. DVD of the first movie comes out next month I think. Operation Yashima was sex.

And yes, they ran out of money, so they just made some bullshit and unintelligible 2 last episodes that was just a waste of time. Eoe was good though.

Blood+ was decent. Slowed down in the middle, but had a girl rapes guy scene.

Berserk. Nuff Said

Samurai Champloo was also decent. Story was a bit meh, and ending was just..normal.

Eureka Seven is on my top 5 series ever. Great Surfing Mecha show with BAWWW end

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann won an award for best action, and deserves it. It was a great series

Ghost in the Shell is a great series for Technobabble

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is a good series too. But requires knowledge of japanese culture to get all the jokes.

Moyashimon is a great series beneath a stupid cover. It has a farmers college, lesbians, dominatrix, and Traps.

Rahxephon is basically a series where the creator wanted to make his own Eva. Decent though.

Full Metal Panic is a good series. Season 1 was mediocre, season 2 had some of the best comedy, and season 3 had great action

Black Lagoon- Hot girls, guns, guns, Russians, incestuous/transsexual/bisexual/loli twins.

Good to know. Full Metal Panic - fumufu (sp?) was hilarious. Especially inebriated. I cried it was so funny.

First anime I ever watched was Cowboy Bebop and I really liked it. It got my hopes up for the anime world, but nothing I've seen since was too good, just run of the mill anime BS. I've also seen Full Metal Panic& Fumofu (remember them being pretty good), Rahxephon (sucks hard), Get backers I liked a lot at the time i remember. Full Metal Alchemist was pretty sucky. Yakitate Japan was cool (it's a comedy about breadmaking, so might not be for everyone ). Hellsing I don't remember much of, nor do I remember much of Last Exile. Read or Die was pretty good. It's surprising to think about how much anime I've watched and I don't remember 95% of it, which tells you anime isn't anything to get too excited about. I haven't watched any in a year or so, and longer before that. I'm sure there's some good series I haven't seen though.

I really like Samurai Champloo, I don't think it's overly typical as far as anime go. If you want something silly or goofy, Azumanga Daioh is fun, though it might be a little weird/not for everyone.

just watched some azumanga on you tube. pretty funny, i'll have to check it out.

for goofy/weird i'd recommend Ouran Highschool Host Club. it's doubly hilarious because i was turned on to the show by my friend who is a big black bouncer/rapper. if you see it you'll understand why.

The first 15 or so episodes of Full Metal Alchemist are up on Veoh (English, too, no subtitles if you look enough - try FMA 01, 02...). That's the only "anime" I've ever watched and it's pretty sweet. I just rewatched them all actually.

First anime I liked was Ninja Scroll, great movie. Awhile went by and I didn't really watch anything, then (10 years ago?) I got into DBZ. Watched the whole thing, thought it was great.. looking back it's kinda shitty but I enjoyed it. I've watched a couple here and there in between but nothing I really cared for> Recent stuff--Grenadier I liked (short series), Death Note was good, Claymore was good (though the manga story is better), I really dig Bleach, with the exception of filler it follows the manga very well.

I didn't really care for Ghost in the Shell, nor Akira, which were highly recommended. After 9 episodes of Cowboy Bebop I lost interest, may try again down the line. I've downloaded a lot of Naruto to see if I'd like that.

On another note.. I'd never ever watch dubbed anime, it's always been terrible to me, so beware of that. my 2c

Samurai 7 is a good anime to watch, Bleach is another good anime but it's a long running series currently at 160+ episodes with no end in sight.

Ahh, it makes me sad that bleach was only mentioned twice, .

Bleach is one of my favorite Anime shows right now, the fight scenes and the witty banter are what makes the show.
