2. Good, but the plot twists are annoying
as a hiromi fan, I could definitely relate to this
3. Decent. I wonder if they are going to do the afterstory
I bet they dont. if it is TA: It's a Wonderful Life is what you are referring to, hope they dont. This is coming from a diehard Tomoyo fan, the game totally distorts and obliterates her image we as fans cherish in our minds
5. Haven't Watched
oh I strongly urge you do. If you happen to be in tune with iyashikei shows, you will totally fall in love with it. Otherwise, it still got fantastic BGM and beatiful scenery going for it.

1st Season only. 95% of Okawari Sucks. The other 5% is awesome though
Funny how I totally forgot okawari even existed - I just finished catching up on it over the weekened lol. The only thing I like about okawari is Kana being the main lead in the ending sequence.

Tsukihime Anime doesnt exist. Man faces make my eyes burn
I didnt think it was THAT bad, prolly cuz tantei-sama didnt look all that bad in it.

Also, "Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni" is good. Lots of mystery, decent gore, and loli's.
The first series was good only for the first half, then it slipped like there is no tomorrow. Kai was much better received than the prequel though. I really adore the ED by anNina.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but I'm really liking Requiem from the Darkness aka 100 Stories aka Kosetsu Hyaku Monogatari. Some very dark stuff in there.

Anybody here watching Kaiji? I've heard a lot of good stuff about it but haven't got around to watching yet. I was thinking about downloading a few episodes and starting tonight, though.

For some anime that's easy to get into, try some movies from Studio Ghibli.

I'd recommend (in no particular order):

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Grave of the Fireflies
Kiki's Delivery Service
Spirited Away
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Princess Mononoke

I loved Eureka Seven. Would like to pick up the DVDs, but I'm going to have to wait until I can find them for about $10/volume or a reasonably priced boxset is available. Bandai is batshit insane if they thing I'm paying $240 for the series (12 volumes @ $20/ea).

I have a few favorites myself...

Bleach (One of the coolest action animes around, the fight scenes can go on through multiple episodes they are so epic)
Full Metal Alchemist (A life story of 2 kids that try to bring their mother back from the dead using Alchemy)
Ghost in the Shell (The Series and the Movies are all intriguing and intelligent)
Black Lagoon (Action packed riot)
Appleseed and Appleseed EX Machina (visibly stunning Computer Animated Graphics) <-movies

As you can see, I am mostly into action anime. I find many other anime to be either too childish or boring all together. I still need to explore many other anime as well.

this is the reason so many still dont buy anime. 20-25$ for 4 eps just isnt gonna work for most people

We kind of talked about this in a different thread.

I don't know if American licensees emulate prices from Japan or are simply charged high royalties, but DVDs in Japan are not cheap (especially anime). They'd probably like our prices .

You've also got the fact that in quite a few cases fansubs are simply better quality. They'll be HDTV rips. They'll use the latest subtitle layering software so they can do fancy karaoke and other nifty effects. Sometimes they tend to be more like their audience and use Japanese names for things rather than Americanize the names (such as techniques in Naruto). The businesses that license these animes (and manga) need to try to make them appeal to the largest amount of people and that sometimes affects the content.

Problem with pricing that is straight conversion is my guess. They just sell it at the same price as in japan except their standard of living is higher than NAs.

Canadians get shafted still on the exchange rate. Quite a few places still think 1 us dollar is worth about 1.5.

Berserker is one of the best series, only if you watch all 25 episodes (should have been 26, they ran out of funds) the story kinda leaves you wanting more, and you kinda feel the urge to read the manga too (extreme violence). Must see.
Naruto is kind of stupid but funny at the beginning, then it gets more serious, with better fights as it goes on. I'm watching shippuden right now and they use entire episodes just for damn flashbacks. But when they fight, they really fight. Recommended, but take heed, it's still coming out.
Bleach, made by the same guy who made Naruto, YuYu Hakusho and yeah, DBZ, is a bit lame for the first 13 episodes, but then it kicks in and it becomes utterly addictive. Sword fighting to the extreme, with some magic stuff thrown in there. Highly Recommended, also in progress.
As for others, Full Metal Alchemist is pretty good, not very long and very nice if you can get past the flashback episodes (about 4-5 of them somewhere in the middle). Alchemy is a bit like magic, so if you like that stuff, it's a good anime. Recommended.
Claymore, sort of the female version of berserk, "chickz with huge swordz" but with way less violence, is a very nice series to see. But again like Berserk it ends before the end, and leaves you wanting for more. Highly recommended.

Overall, watch Berserk, anyone should see at least the anime. And take your pick of the various others. Just remember, you're lucky if you get into naruto or bleach cus there are already over 100 episodes of each too see, but if they get to you, you'll eventually wear them out and will have to wait like a madman for the next week when the next episode will come out.

Umm, Naruto was created by Kishimoto, while Bleach was created by Tite Kubo. Completely differant artists.

Naurto and Bleach both suck now.

Just finished watching all 74 episodes of Monster.

What a fantastic anime. Best I've watched so far.

For something which really has only one story line and takes 74 episodes to reach it's conclusion you would think it would go quite slow but honestly every single episode was gripping right throughout.

Can't recommend this enough.

my mistake then, I knew for sure it was naruto, yuyu hakusho and dbz, apparently bleach is not.

I still have about 30 episodes to go from bleach, and it's fun to watch still. Naruto does suck now, but I still have high hopes. I know they can do more (the 10 vs 100 puppets fight says so ) and I know the manga is great a bit further up ahead, even though not having read it. I just hope I won't run out of patience until I get there. But one thing I saw for sure, Naruto is not funny anymore. It still has great fights, but it's just not funny.

None of them are by the same mangaka.

Naruto, Bleach and Yu Yu Hakusho are all animated by Studio Pierrot though.
