I dont like any of the FX line of geforce cards. I would probably get the 6600, or find a used 9800 Pro.

get a 6600 gt as the fx line were not very good performance wise, even a 5950 ultra. that is a decent card buyt still a 6600 is way better.

what i was saying before is that usually used computer parts have a significantly shorter life span and may not operate correctly. What is ur budget?

Newegg has the Radeon 9600XT for $101 shipped, but I would try to scrape up a few extra bucks for the 9800 Pro.

Mir96TA, as kurt above me recommended, scrape up a few more bucks man, the 98pro is noticeably better then the 96xt. Good luck man, and just keep saving up a bit.

Yeah, try for a used 9700 / Pro. Just beware that some had a rolling lines problem with the VGA output, so either avoid it, or side-step it by using a DVI-VGA adapter with the DVI output (if you won't be using two monitors, which I doubt on your budget).

A 6600 is intriguing if you can OC the heck out of the core (to near GT levels), but a 9700/P should still be faster with AA+AF because of its much greater bandwidth (well over twice as much).

I will not get 9700. I have a 9500 with Omega Driver my Video card run as good as a 9700. I have run the 3D mark and Doom3

A 6600 will over clocked to GT level. Guy who is selling me told me
9800 pro .... must resists

If you have a 9500 modded to a 9700 (eight pipes, memory arranged in L-shape around GPU), then just forget about a 5900 altogether, as it'll be slower or look worse in current games.

The 6600 sounds interesting, but you're getting virtually no warranty with it. Couple that with running it that far out of spec, and I'm not sure I'd risk $115 on it. I say just save some more money to afford a used/new 9800P or 6600GT.
