... so what is it? What is worth buying? I am not a Blues person so to say... but interested in listening to and buying one of the best ever.

Some suggestions I have heard off the board-

> Layla and other assorted love songs
> The Last Waltz by The Band
> At Fillmore East by Allman Brothers Band
> Exile on Main Street by Rolling Stones

You say blues, but then mention Allman Bros, The Band, and the Rolling Stones?

I vote for anything Stevie Ray Vaughan.

The Stones are a blues band.

do some reading before making judgments.

The Stones and Zeppelin are blues based bands. They were influenced by the blues, and play some blues songs, but ultimately they are rock bands.

No, no they're not. They're blues-influenced rock.

R&B is true.

Most songs by Zepplin are blues based, if not outright blues songs. Traveling Riverside Blues is a great example as is When The Levee Breaks.

Just because a band is loud doesn't mean they don't play the blues.

Rolling Stones started out as a blues band, but added the rock to it by Jagger and Richards.

First, who said anything about R&B? Second, you just reiterated what I said. Third, what does volume have to do with anything?

Some people equate volume to hard rock and heavy metal.

I agree with what you said.

Some of my favorites:

http://www.amazon.com/Sunrise-...&qid=1200548765&sr=8-1
http://www.amazon.com/E-C-Was-...&qid=1200548833&sr=8-1

Also, check out some of these artists:

Howlin' Wolf
Otis Rush
Elmore James
Otis Spann
Muddy Waters
Albert King

If you had to pick ONE of these that you will have available to listen to for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

Out of those? The Blues at Sunrise album by Stevie Ray Vaughan. I have a very particular blues taste, though. There are some types of blues I can't really stand to listen to.

OP, for someone new to the blues who wants to get a taste of an authentic actual blues legend playing with contemporary rockers, I recommend The London Howlin' Wolf Sessons.

You can listen to samples of each song on the album at the Amazon site above.

I dont know what the best is, but I know what I like. Once while flipping around the radio I heard a fellow named Mason Casey singing "Take me to the airport" and it was alright.

I check it out on CDuniverse and he only has one album of his own.

Only has 4 reviews here and 3 of them arent good.
I probably wont bother.

I think I prefer Jazz to Blues anyway.

I like biscuits, cornbread, corn, fried chicken, all sorts of potatos (inlcuding the sweet kind) and watermelon.

Do NOT like most heated greens, especially mustard greens, collard greens and spinach greens.
Dont like nonstandard hunks of pig in my food or as the basis for my food.
Dont like blackeyed peas.

Let me see..... I know I'm leaving something off the list.

Why do you ask?
Is my opinion on Blues not to be taken seriously unless I like blackeyed peas and collard greens?

OK, so if I opine on pie will you respect my music tastes?

I like Key Lime the most, and Pecan the least.
