best buy 285gtx ymmv

Was at Best Buy checking out the prices on video cards for a laugh while my friend was looking for an adapter and I noticed a Clearance sticker on a 285. It was marked at 175$ - there was a 275gtx next to it for 280! They also had some 4850s marked down but not enough to make it a hot deal. I had to return it because it was nonfunctional but I exchanged it at another store and now I have SLI 285s for cheap! While exchanging it I noticed that there price significantly beat neweggs price of 350$, it was marked at 270$.

So there you go, looking for a 285 check your local Best Buy they may be having a clearance.

I saw a visiontek 4850 for 99 and 4870 512mb for 150. Not bad but not scorching either.

I went to my Best Buy to check for it. Most Best Buys do not carry such high-end video cards. I made them check the other stores inventory in the area. This is much easier than calling and checking if they have it because it shows you if they have it in stock and their price if it is clearanced.

The only store in my area in Illinois is the store in Gurnee, IL it has 2. You might want to call and check to see if they still have them if it is a long drive for you. They are 209.99 at that store.


EDIT: You also can't do a store transfer as most managers won't allow it. They will also want to charge you their own store price (so if you transfer from a store where it is $200 to a store near you that has it for $350 you will have to pay $350 unless the manager changes the price).

However they have a 9800gt 1gb for $99, i guess that's not bad.

209.99 still qualifies as hot to me!

I know there are 2 at the southside bestbuy in jacksonville but they are 270$, still less than newegg though.

There is also at least one at another bestbuy here, search online if you are in this area. I do not know the price at that location though.

That's a crazy good deal. The cheapest 285 on NE is $285 after MIR.

In Wayne NJ they have a 4850 for 101.99 but the highest end card they carry is the 275 which was still @ 280 bucks.

I snagged one this week at Best Buy in Holmdel, NJ. Looks like I may have gotten the last 1 in NJ.

$174.99 plus tax FTMFW and its also clocked to the OC2 timings.

There's one listed in stock around me. I have a Q9300 @ 3.1 GHz. I have a 4830. I have a 1920x1200 monitor. Should I get the 285 or wait a couple months for ATi's new cards?

I go to the Best Buy there about 2 times a week on my way home.

I have seen the card sitting there for about 2 months on clearance for $279.99.

Last week they decided to really make it clearance and I got lucky.

Better yet the card is clocked to OC2 speeds out of the box.
