My local BB has a solution for price matching. They call it price match hell (my words). They send you from one to the other til you end up with a guy who takes forever to call and ultimately say no, they don't have it in stock. You're so tired at the end you just blow it off. Sounds like your experience in it's result. Guy prolly got a rush by not giving you the sale price.

Best Buy employees don't care what you pay. Normally, if you come in and have written proof of a price, they will match it. You can't go in and say, "Yeah, Sears has this for $100 less."

Nah, I had the CUSA ad in hand (remember you're in a savvy hot deal forum). It was too much to get an ok at the register. On that note, I can understand that different employees have different levels of permission to sell at a given price whether it's a post sale period snafu or an extra large price match. In the previous example the stuff should have been rung up at the sale price, then and there. It's the customer who comes first, not internal wrangling. In my case, I had left CUSA with product in stock, crossed the street and over an hour later
a phone call determined that it was no longer in stock. I gave up and didn't check for myself. On the other hand I've scored some nice deals and folks are most always pleasant.

The 10% card would rock and would work in their pricing structure.

If you were in CompUSA, then why didn't you buy it there?

It was a while back and BB had a rebate and before you pooh on that one (like a true BB employee) BB was pm'ing these and many other before their rebate price. Now, where's my 10% card.
Take my word for it, it was a valid pm. Large but valid. It did not work out for me, I understand. The process was painful though and that is the main issue. It's customer service and if a customer, com or otherwise, has been raked thru the coals they need to be taken care of. Really, the store only hurts itself otherwise. No need to go back and forth over the details, if you work in retail BB you know how long it can take to figure out large pm's and bb.com snafus during a busy shopping period. I understand all that, no need to fish for an explanation or justification.

A suggestion, the 10% card would work, so put it in the suggestion box. You could even require it to be swiped to monitor it's success. You'd see a ton of repeat sales.

People on the East Coast might not be familiar with this system.

I have had this Reward Zone card now for a year (West Coast), and it's been upgraded to the Premium Reward Zone from Best Buys. Basically, if you buy any video game, DVD, music CD, PC software, etc., you get double points. To date, I have earned many $5.00 certificates from Best Buys for just buying what I usually buy anyway. This certificate can be used in addition to any other coupon that they have, such as the $5.00 off $19.99 or better game deals.

To my knowledge, it's not a scam and is worth signing up to.

If they did have it, it would have a lot of restrictions. The pricing structure of many stores can't handle it.

Also, BestBuy.com is a seperate company. People working at the store (including the managers) can't help you if the website screws up. The only thing they can try to do is offer you a substitution. It all depends on how civil you are and if you're a returning customer.

Customers get crazy for the wrong things. A guy recently comes in with a Sony notebook and a PSP. It was his 3 repair so he was entitled to a replacement. The manager wanted to give him a Toshiba and the guy got very angry. He started calling his friends and cursing out the company and what not. Meanwhile, the laptop the manager wanted to give him can run laps around the Sony. It had built in WiFi - 40GB - Combo Drive, basically it wasn't an insult. There are a lot of good guys that work in Best Buy, you just have to walk around and look for them...

Kevin I understand the BB.com is different but they still represent BB ...the store and the dot.com...In my case the STORE employee canceled the order and screwed me...I had used a virtual MC and to get my money back was several phone calls as well

The guy with the laptop was not very knowledgable and thought the sony was better..on his behalf I would bet the sony cost more than the toshiba so he may have had a beef...

My point is the big chains are not doing a good job with customer satisfaction..when you go to BB you pay retail and I expect fair treatment..this is why these store are having trouble financially.... look at Circuit City..They used to charge restocking fee and did away with it..My wife bought a monitor there once and I told her make sure they do not take it out of the box...they tried too...but she refused..I returned it and got a 19 in monitor at BB I preferred for the same money(this was 3 yrs ago)....But now I have found CC to be better than BB so I avoid BB

I will not buy any hardware for example from Compusa as they charge a restocking fee..why pay retail ?

Yup, it was a lower price than he paid but that is stipulated in the Service Plan. Although cheaper than his original purchase price, the laptop they wanted to give him was way better than his Sony. A few people were trying to explain that to him, even when they showed him a paper comparison. Finally he took it, but it was a very long process...

this ends up being very similar (almost exactly the same) as media play rewards. oh yeah, dont think anyone mentioned this yet, but the $5 gift cards are only good on $10 and up purchases. I also got a card in the mail yesterday for free, so alot of you probably will too.

yes, the $5 coupons can be combined. I was in the rewardzone trial last year, and I bought a laptop for which I got over 200000 points for that. So they sent me sixteen $5 coupons. On the coupons I got, there was the statement "coupon may be combined with other offers." As to why in the world they send only $5 coupons go figure.

ok, if I understand you correctly, you're asking if multiple coupons can be used on ONE item? Yes, I've done that. However, I've had cashier's who have only let me use enough coupons to bring the price down to <$10, because the coupon is only valid on $10 or more items.

I recieved my free card in the mail on Saturday. Im glad to have it especially with it being free for a year and Im sure that I will
earn a few certificates. Im hoping that they have a few double point weekends etc to spice things up like they do at the Media
Play. I have the MP card and that one is better with only $100 needed for a $5 certificate.

These cards are just like using a rewards card at the grocery store -- they use you for data mining. The very information you provide them, which tells them where you live and what you buy -- and consequently, your general income, marital status, etc. that can be gained through OTHER databases -- is much more valuable than the $5 they give you. This is why a person may call this a scam. In the end, you're actually losing out from the deal, because Best Buy is making out like a bandit.

Of course, it's your perogative. In a very general sense, you are getting something for nothing. From the perspective of a person who does data mining on a daily basis, I tossed my card in the trash 5 minutes after I got it.

Now, if you REALLY want to get something for nothing, I suggest you find someone out of state through this board, and trade cards. Suddenly, you're getting the good end of the deal!

Umm - last I checked, with Reward Zone 12500/100 = 125.

Now, for those in the DC Area and ONLY DC area, it seems, there's a sweeter deal.

The Sterling, VA store has a program called "Power Perks" which awards 120 points to each dollar spent, plus you get periodic coupons in which don't actually suck!

Of course, the website says that only the Sterling store is participating in the PP program, which is supposedly "better" than the RZ program.

Can you explain the swapping of cards out of state please...thank you.
