Just found the recipe my mother uses in my recipe list and sure enough you revealed the secret of great cookies.

It's really amazing what that one extra ingredient does to cookies. The pudding turns dull, dry, hard chocolate chip cookies into chewy moist delights. It's magic.

I have to try this. I hate hard cookies.

I use a riff on that recipe, it adds pudding mix. It keeps the cookies soft for that "just out of the oven" texture.
