Hoobastank - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

well, it was fine until the lead singer started singing, but the guitar parts were sick

my real vote goes to Audioslave - What's So Funny (About Peace Love And Understanding) originally by Elvis Costello and Nick something

impossible to find, only heard it at their live show

Johnny Cash cover of hurt -NIN
If you do a search on a P2P program do a search for Pearl Jam singing "sitting on the dock of the bay". Its a live bootleg and it will send shivers up your spine.

Stone Temple Pilots - Dancin' Days
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - Phantom of the Opera
I also really like Social D's cover of Ring of Fire.
Sheryl Crow - Sweet Child of Mine

She also has a cover of Freebird floating around, but I don't really like it as much as the Wonderwall one.

1. Steve Ray Vaughun - Little Wing (Jimi Hendrix)
end of thread

My favorite Little Wing jam is the one from the G3 Live in Denver DVD with Satraini, Vai and Malmsteen. I like it even more than Stevie Ray's

This thread got me thinking of all the "Rock" that are covers of blues originals

One example of a great blues man:

Willie Dixon

Never heard of him? How about these?

Back Door Man
Bring it on Home
Built For Comfort
Close to You
Down in the Bottom
Evil
I Ain't Superstitious
I'm Ready
Hoochie Coochie Man
I Just Want to Make Love to You
Love, Life, & Money
Mellow Down Easy
Oh Baby
Shake for Me
Spoonful
The Red Rooster
You'll Be Mine
You Shook Me

These are just some of his hits.

A lot of Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and SRV in there.

awesome picks. I'd also like to add every song on Metallica's Garage Inc album, with the exception of Tuesday's Gone. Also, William Hung's version of Opeth's "Demon on the Fall"

The Smashing Pumpkins- A Night Like This (orignally by The Cure)
Guster- Nothing But Flowers (originally by The Talking Heads)
Rufus Wainright- Across the Universe (originally by The Beatles)
Ben Folds- In Between Days (originally by The Cure)

I know I have a lot more in my mind but those are the covers that've been on my playlist recent. Is it just me or are there a lot of really good Cure covers out there?

Well, I've been listening to The Twilight Singer's covers album She Loves you and I must say this is some gooooood sh!t. Only other person that I can think of that made covers this good was Johnny Cash.

My favs so far:

Hyberballad (bjork)
What Makes You Think You're The One (Fleetwood Mac)
Real Love (Mary J. Blige)
and hell all the rest

"1970" by Mission of Burma, originally by The Stooges. Terrifying.

"Eight Miles High" by Husker Du, originally by the Byrds. The original was one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded - Husker Du's version was completely different and every bit as good. Like most Husker Du, it sounds every bit as fresh today as it did 20 years ago.

Son of a bi...

I was about to say 8 Miles High by Husker Du also. Was just listening to that 7 inch, truly amazing cover, and love the way Mould strains his vocal chords belting it out. Hell even the cover of the mary tyler moore theme song on that EP is intresting. Also have to agree with MOB's cover of The Stooges.
