I am not sure if it is purely comedy, but it was a funny show: Cupid - on ABC starring Jeremy Piven.

I suppose it falls more into the dramadey category.

I totally forgot about those shows. Never heard of Mike and Gary, though.

It's absolutely stunning how many morons there are in this thread that can't count to two.

That said, my list of top sitcoms that only went 2 season or less:

Fawlty Towers - The classic, amazing there are only 12 episodes.
Sports Night - Sitcoms without laugh tracks rarely do well in the ratings.
Stark Raving Mad - Neil Patrick Harris was the perfect nerdy foil to Tony Shaloub's dark side.
Action - Can't believe nobody else mentioned Action. It was hysterical, too dirty for network TV and got gassed by Fox. It could have been great on HBO though.

For all the folks who run out of fingers and can't count to 3, both Family Guy and Titus ran 3 seasons. And as a side note since there are so many fans here, TV Tome has the titles of the upcoming episodes of season 4.

Aeon Flux sucked, worst animation in the history of animation. Anyone who uses that style of animation should be shot.

The andy richtor show was good though.

I saw him do his standup show that was based on that (or vice versa) at Just for Laughs the first year I went to that. Funny stuff!! Wish I could have caught the show.

The John Larroquette Show would have to get my vote, as the first two seasons were the only good ones. Nice, black comedy, rare for american tv. The third and 4th lightened it up to the point of killing all humour.

I also find Father of the Pride funny, but I have a messed up sense of humour.

For non-comedy, I have to say Crusade. Just got the DVD, and that show looks like it had real potential. It had the backing to succeed, just a bunch of dicks at the network killed it right around when it finally finding itself.

How is Greg the Bunny, anyway? It's out on DVD, but I never saw or heard about it until I saw the DVD. Looks twisted. Anyone see it?

BTW, Dinosaurs lasted 4 seasons, technically. First one was just 5 eps in May '91. Quantum Leap lasted 5 seasons. Titus was like that, too. 2 full seasons, with the first one a half season.

An aid to all.

Oh, and people there's a difference between CANCELED and ENDED. Ended means that it was given a farewell episode and had some closure. Canceled means it was killed mid season or just not allowed to return. Quantum leap, Friends, Cheers, Seinfeld, etc ALL had actual endings! (No matter how they might have sucked)

Sledge Hammer, Sports Night,
I'm pretty sure Dream On went more than two seasons.
I think Aeon Flux Techinally had 3 seasons.
Get life. Out of this world.
Fawlty Towers. (seems longer since the show filled a one hour slot and British TV series run differently, but officialy the show was only two seasons.)
Actually, The Good Life only had two seasons too!

Crap, you said pick a favorite!
I pick Sports Night. It was the ONLY show I ever felt strongly enough to write an email and request more episodes. Everything else I just let die.
I have also heard the rumors of starting up Futurama, Family Guy, and Sports Night again. When I see new episodes actually playing, I'll believe it.

The thread-friendly GagHalfrunt was referring to www.tvtome.com.
They actually go over every shows season in order.
And when I say every, I mean many times more thorough then www.imdb.com.
Check it out, just in case anandtechers really can count higher than two.

I also loved Greg the Bunny. My roommate just bought the DVD and it's great.

Funny characters and great lines.

Seth Green played his part perfectly.
Sarah Silverman is underrated.
Eugene Levy is consistent (think Jim's Dad from American Pie trilogy).

And the puppets rocked. Tardy the Turtle is the equivalent of Ralph Wiggum. Doesn't add much to the plot, but gave 1-2 great one-liners every show that were hilarious. Count Blah's running joke (finishes every sentence with blah) was great, blah! And anytime they poked fun of Sesame Street as being a rip-off, hilaraty ensued.
