Best file compressing Software?

I need to find a file compressing software like Winzip that will crunch a 1.05 gig file to under 700mb. Is there such programs that can do that?

WinRar is pretty popular, can't say it'll do what you wanna do but may be worth a look.....link.

A lot of it also depends on what kind of file you're compressing because some files such as divx are already compressed a lot so you won't get much more compression there no matter what kind of software you use.

Depending on the file type, it may not be able to be compressed that much. Something like video/audio or even graphics, can't be compressed very much at all without losing significant data.
WinRar is supposed to have one of the better compression schemes, and is pretty good for multimedia. I wouldn't get your hopes up on packing something that much though, getting it down to 900MB might be possible, but not 700.
