boiled silkworm pupaeRoaches? Bedbugs, ticks, maggots or maybe full-grown house-flies?
Vietnamese Giant Centipede?!?
Grasshoppers are not even close to as gross and chocolate-covered ants could be crunchy drops of honey if you didn't know better ... they're actually pretty good!
The type of crickets used in these chips appears to be the same as what I used to buy in the pet-store as "feeders" and they have a certain smell .... let's call it "Eau de roadkill" accompanied by mild poop.
Dig in!
*(the only way I've eaten anything even AS nasty as a feeder-cricket would be if it flew down my throat while I was riding my motorcycle!)
At this point - the gimicks are just getting to be too much

I've eaten hundreds of these bugs as street food snacks.
But why?boiled silkworm pupae
I've eaten hundreds of these bugs as street food snacks.
taste nutty. Smells kind of bad but tastes ok. Smell and texture will probably gross people out but if you have open mind, it doesn't taste bad. If eating shrimp wasn't socially acceptable, people would probably freak out about eating shrimp. Shrimp is basically cockroach of the sea.Taste like chicken?
Why not? People ate it out of necessity because they had nothing else to eat. Probably saved lot of people from starving to death. I grew up poor and it was one of the few snacks we could afford. But why?

"I've never met a potato I didn't like." - My recently deceased cousin, quoted during a Zoom tribute that must have had over 100 participantsFAKE POTATOES!
I might tolerate that. I used to love potato chips, and if I had a choice right now I'd definitely pick an onion flavored chip. Onions are God's gift to cooks and diners. But I never buy potato chips anymore because they are just too salty. I don't have high blood pressure, but I guess I've conditioned myself to not salt my food a whole lot (i.e. less is better if I don't feel it's not salty enough). I'm used to that.Lays lightly salted.

My doctor wanted me to take Lipitor when my cholesterol went over the tolerable limit a few years ago, IIRC a little over 240. I said, hold it, let me try to bring it down with dietary changes. He said OK, let's test it in a few months. I cut out almost all cheese, butter and eggs in the interim and tested OK. It's never been that high since. I haven't had an in person physical since before the pandemic, had a virtual one last summer. Last blood test was summer 2019 while my doctor was on vacation. I saw a different doctor because I hadn't been feeling well. Tests were good, though, including stress test EKG and the problems went away. Maybe it was "nerves."Wise choices keep up the good work!
I just had my bi-annual physical (delayed a year+ due to Covid) and while I'm still in "okay" shape, my BP is now "borderline-high" and my cholesterol was also a bit elevated.
Some of this is just par for the course getting old but the rest is pure laziness and not taking proper care of myself.
14 months of pandemic-related inertia didn't freaking help either!
Taking it as a wake-up call.
