What's the best (free) program to compress files the most?

I used to use Winzip but I switched to Winrar and I would have to agree it's better. Handles all compression types I have come across.

my opinion
WinAce compresses the best. it's a pretty nice program is it's regestered. But the unregestired is pretty good too.
But i only use it when a file i downloaded is an ace file. Otherwise i use winzip , but i also like winrar for larger files / programs.

I think StuffIt compresses files even better than Winzip or Winrar. It works a bit slow though.

Another vote for WinRAR... one little program can compress and decompress most compression formats... Besides, i think WinZip is too bloated...
