I'm in the market for a new gaming case right now and what do you guys think is the best gaming case up to date for the value?

I'm looking at the Antec Nine Hundred ($50 AR) and the Gigabyte 3D Aurora 570 (low $100's) for now. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I recently bought a Coolermaster CM 690 (RC-690). It's designed/marketed as an Antec Nine Hundred killer!

I *suspect* it will make a great gaming case, despite its low price (and I'm a fussy guy)...

I haven't had a chance to build it yet, however, it looks like a keeper!

Sooo, you might want to add that to your list...

Yeah, I paid 39 bones for mine, sooo...

I'm gonna stick 3x120s (front, rear, bottom), 4x140s (top [x2], left [x2]), and a thin 80 (80x15) behind the mobo tray - 8 fans in all!

I just haven't had time to research/order the parts...

How's that for a gaming case?

It comes with rubber feet too (not plastic) to keep it from blowing off your desk...

Ah, nice. I'm building in the process of building a new right now - about half way done with the shopping.

I'd say the original CM Stacker (STC-T01) is still one of the best cases for extreme systems ever made. But it is hard to beat the price on the 690 right now. Several places are offering the rebate but no others are offering free shipping.

And if you are interested in the Ultra version of the Global Win, http://www.antonline.com has a pretty good price on it and there are others in that price vicinity per Froogle. Someone was having a deal on the m998 over the weekend but I can't find it now.

Haha man... I made the order on the Antec 900 then cancelled it cuz I started having second thoughts and wanted to consider the 690 some more. Vin, do you have any problems with poor HD cooling? I'm not sure if that's a known issue or not, but a user review mentions it on newegg.

After much comparing and analyzing, the conclusion I came up with is Cooler Master 690 > Antec 900... not just price wise but value wise as well. You get more out of the 690 for an amazing price. If cooling is an issue, you can have up to 8 fans in the 690 so problem solved. There's even a fan behind the mobo to keep the mobo cool - never seen that before. I pulled the trigger on this case at newegg: $30 AR with free s/h and free card reader.

**Today, 11/28, is the last day for this deal so if you want it, better get on it quick**

It's so tempting...I usually end up buying a case for a good deal, not having time to build out a new rig, and selling it unopened on craigslist. The front fans buried behind the hard drive rack bugs me though.

HAHA! That has to be the one of the most terrible things I've ever seen in my life. Wow... I'm speechless.

Had to share this comment about the "pro's" for the case:

"This case is unbelieveable. When I got it I was dumbfounded by its sheer size and power, and it has a beautiful american flag design on the top. This case embodies the USA...Big, Strong, Roomy. I can fit in two 8800GTX cards in this case and it keeps my computer cool! What more can you ask for? It's a great bang for your buck!"

$1000 for a case is a great bang for your buck? With a design like THAT? I mean... really??

And then for "cons" he says:

"The skull is scary to look at."

HAHAHA.

Yup, there is a thread around here somewhere on those ridiculously priced CM paint jobs. In future editions of Wikipedia - the picture next to moron will be some dweeb pointing proudly to one of those...

Last I checked, a case did not increase any benchmark scores...

Find one that you like the looks of and that has enough drive bays to hold your drives, and holds the type of motherboard you have... and as long as the ventilation is good, it will be good for gaming.

My case is an old pentium II server case... it is a beast. People look at my computer and think what a piece of junk and then they see it playing Medieval II or FEAR (and soon crysis) and I have to explain that it is a sleeper. I never saw much a of reason to spend a huge amount of money on a case.

To the OP I really like the Antec gaming case these days. I've built a few rigs for people using that case. The internal lay out is different from other cases but it is really quite well designed and built.

I'll have to put my vote in on the Cooler Master RC690 also.
While I haven't gotten my system put together yet, one just can't hardly find a better made case for the price it's currently going at.
Cooler Master RC690 for ~$21 shipped AR!
Vin, where are you going to get your 80x15 fan at? It seems SVC only has 1 kind in stock...the SilenX IXP-52-11 (11 dBA 18CFM) for $15.95. I did a Google search & found a Panaflo FBA08T12H for $9.95 @ Jab-Tech, but they're OOS, however while it's almost twice the CFM, it's also 3 times the dBA.
Dunno how much air one would need back there.

Tell that to Antec...

They advertise this as a hardcore gaming case...
