What's the difference between the Razor 1000 and 2000? The dpi? I looked on their website and they are listed for $70-$100? I can't exactly afford that right now, and really don't want to spend that much for a mouse. I know I asked for the 'best' but damn. I guess it will come down to which mouse feels better (Logitech or MS). Thanks everyone for your replies and opinions.

Clearly the best mouse ever made for gaming was the Logitech Wingman Gaming Mouse. Unfortunately they don't sell them anymore. Fortunately I stocked up on three of them when they were $10 a piece on clearance at Best Buy. I still use it for everything. Its fits the hand better than any other mouse ever made. Just doesn't have a wheel but a nice three easily accessible buttons. Mmm...now if they only made this thing with a thumb wheel it would be perfect.

Dude their aint nothin that beats my Logitech Marble Mouse. Sure it takes some getting used to but once you do get used to it you would never go back. Way more percision, you don't have to move the mouse its self (huge plus).

The wingman gaming mouse had the best feel ever, although currently I'm using a Microsoft intellimouse explorer

jesus, could that last post have been any more irritating? i am perfectly content with all my intellimouse explorer v1's and v2's but i'll probably be getting an explorer 3.0 for my main box and i'll move this v2 that i'm using to another computer (my computer collection is about to start out numbering my mouse collection ). i wish that they had kep the original shape of the explorer (i'm not as fond of the shape of the 3.0 and its smaller buttons), but i'm sure i'll get used to it. i dabbled with a friend's boomslang 2000, but i just couldn't get used to the shape, even after a couple weeks. to my hand, the logitech dual optical feels weird, but i like the regular shaped logitechs.

How do I tell if it is a v 3? I went to Staples today and they had two different kinds of MS Intellimouse Explorers. One was really big and another just looked like the old one. The big one was 80 or 90 bucks I think :Q I looked all over the box, and unless I am blind (maybe), I couldn't find it.

BOOMSLANG!! You can't get a better mouse IMO. I have the Boomslang 2000 and it kicks @ss! It did take me a day or so to get used to it, but once I did...look out. I was surprised how much different it was from every other mouse I've ever tried. Much more precise feeling, smooth. 5 buttons, all programable, macro support also. Left or right handed. Well worth the money.

it should say version 3.0 in big letters. the 3.0 has smaller buttons than the original explorers, and should be about $50 retail. is the big one you are talking about the cordless one? DON"T GET THE CORDLESS ONE!!!!!

Microsoft 3.0 Intelli Optical here, couldn't be happier myself. It's like mouse perfection to me.

Based on what I've ready here before for GAMING you want a mouse that is

-Non wireless (wireless makes a slowdown)
-Non Optical (optical makes a slowdown or something bad)

And as I took notes the Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 looked like the favorite

Dual Optical. This mouse has been great for me so far, extremely precise and I haven't been able to get it to skip yet. Find out which mouse fits your hand the best though, but I'd recommend Logitech alone just for the fact that their mice are as solid as a rock.

Ok, I will have to look again. I guess I will just go on which one fits my hand better. Thanks all.

If you want more sensitivity, do NOT GET OPTICAL MICE. Just get an analog mouse like those M$ mice & use "ps2 rate" which overclocks your mouse & makes it more sensitive.
