I just don't understand why people buy projectors...
You do know that the DVD that everyone is in love with is only 480p right? Most of these lame ass plasma screens that everyone is drooling for because of their bling bling factor are only 854 x 480 or 1024 x 768. And you can go higher than that if you need to with projectors.
For HT you can go to 1280 x 720, 1366 x 768, or 1920 x 1080.
You can even get SVGA 4:3 class projectors that do 1600 x 1200 if you want a data grade projector for a PC. And if you have money to burn you can get one of the 8192 x 4096 LCOS commercial digital cinema projectors.
Keep in mind, with a 1280 x 720 projector, nothing on the market utilizes that resolution short of a PC and a pair of game consoles that wont even be out for another year. It won't be till HD DVD or Blu Ray makes its debut that there will be a real need for 720p or higher.
At 1280 x 720 on my 106" screen the pixels are approximately 1/16" of an inch in size, and the pixel outline is no more defined than the plasma panels everyone is crazy about. I imagine I will be upgrading to a 1920 x 1080 projector once there is source material to go with it that doesn't have to be upscaled.
