Wow talk about ignorance. Your computer has like 5 registry hives and each one can be anywhere from 4MB to 64+MB. The registry is under constant access. Huge registry hives are what make old windows installations feel so slow. My XP installation has 8MB registry hives, after 5 years. That is why it still feels fast. I have a pc at home that has 40MB hives, and it feels slow as dirt. Registry cleaners dont clean up near as much as they should, but they do make a difference.

It doesn't have anything to do with size, it has to do with how registry keys are enumerated by the operating system. The registry is a database, so depending on how the OS queries upon them is what will decide if the size is a major issue or not. Also keep in mind most applications only query the registry once during execution (to load serial keys and other what not). So no one here can make the assumption that size != performance, unless someone has broken down and disassembled the OS to see how the registry works (or found official documentation). Tho I for one would expect even Microsoft would have their heads right about registry performance.Wow talk about ignorance. Just because the last reply might be from 2002 doesnt mean the topic is not valid anymore... Obviously the topic is still valid OR NO ONE WOULD FIND IT to reply!
Just because the thread starter might have moved on and wont see it,other NEW MEMBERS will still benefit from the information.......
