How about that $7.50 Sabrent at newegg...?

I need two, one will be on headphones 24/7, the other will see occasional 2.1 / 5.1 speaker use.

Suggestions?

Haven't read up on soundcards in a while, but the AV-710 from Chaintech is really cheap, and sounds great for the $.

It's hard to beat $7.50 for something you plan to use with headphones - are you planning to use PC speakers, or do you have something with a digital input, because then it really shouldn't matter much.

For really basic sound, I've found no problems with even cheap onboard sound for the last few years.

For something with a little more in the way of features, my SB Live Value has been fine, and I'd imagine the newer ones probably have 5.1 analog outputs for a pretty reasonable price.

the Chaintech AV710 would be alot better than the Live!. The Live series except for the Live 24-bit is outdated and has mediocre to poor sound quality.

Ok, so between the Chaintech AV710 and the Sabrent.

Would they be the same sound using headphones? Or noticably different?

I have platronics 90s, sennheiser HD202s, and may get icemat siberias.

For under $25, why not just use integrated, it's free and will probably sound just as good?
