Beware-CompUSA Rebates

I bought mysmart.com mousepad from CompUSA in April. Last month I had checked on the status of the rebate and they said that I should be recieving it within 2 week. I didn't recieve it and so I called back and enquired. They gave me the no. of the CEO of mysmart.com and said that I have to call the CEO of the co. for my rebate. I called him twice and left a message and didn't nobody returned the call.
Also I had another rebate for cdrs which I had confirmed was being processed. Now they tell me that the promotion has expired and they don't see that rebate for me on their system. I just want u guys to beware of it and just not think any promotion at CompUSA to be a hot deal.

This thread is gonna get locked, but here goes:
I bought a Cendyne burner, and a couple 50pks of the gold CDRs on the memorial day special. The rebate on the burner & one pack of the CDRs was posted as coming (sent in my name to my business address) and the other rebate was posted as denied (sent in my GF's name to my home add'y). I bought all this stuff on seperate receipts, but made one mistake - I used the same credit card. I even blacked out the name on the receipt for the CDRs in the GF's name, and they still caught it.
To make a long story short, I called the rebate center CSR, and was given the CompUSA "customer fulfillment" number, which after speaking w/a CSR there and explaining the situation, I faxed copies of the reciept/UPC/Rebate form (COPY ALL THIS STUFF AND SAVE IT UNTIL THE CHECK CLEARS!!!) into them, and she would "personally handle it". End result...I ended up getting my rebate check for the denied claim 2 weeks later, and got the rebate checks for the other stuff just 2 weeks ago! GO FIGURE!
Just be persistant, and don't take no for an answer! If the rebate center doesn't help, CompUSA can step in and fix it!

Not a hot deal. Wrong thread.

However, you are evidently calling the wrong people. Call CUSA's rebate HQ - their "customer fulfillment" 800 number.

This year, I have $170 of my 3 CUSA rebates processed in a timely fashion (checks received). The other one - $90 - is "approved". Make sure everything is well documented and be persistent (with the right people).

I hear ya Defian.. I just refuse to devalue my time like that. At that point.... it starts to really turn the rebate almost worthless. SOB's.

Were these rebates sent to Phoenix, AZ or their new rebate processing people in New Rochelle, NY? The latter are really really bad news. I already have one rebate that I cannot find on their system and will probably have to look into. If you have rebate problems, you can either bring your paperwork into the store and speak to the manager, or call 1-800-COMPUSA and you can get to their in-house rebate department and they will allegedly make good on stuff.

Filing a complaint with the FTC is ridiculous - UNTIL you have exhausted normal methods of dealing with the rebate company (and it is denied).
