BF1942 Problem...

i just built a new computer - ecs k7s5a/athlon xp 2000. i load up bf1942, update it and i now can not play it. it will go through all the screens and start to the screen with the progress bar and then stops, goes back to the desktop. anybody have any ideas? anybody else having this problem?

video drivers? It sounds like it's crashing at the point where I'd guess it initializes stuff like that.

running same video card with the latest drivers i was running in my last setup, which worked flawlessly

I had the exact same problem, strange fix though, I was getting crc errors on a dozen files or so, but when I installed it on my older computer it went through without a hitch. I figured it must have to have a slower cd-rom drive or slower i/o or something to that effect. I installed it on my main machine using the older machines cd-rom, accross the network, the game works great now, go figure.

How much memory do you have? I know the game has a lot of memory-related issues.

currently running 512MB DDR Ram, will probably upgrade in the near future to 1GB, since prices are pretty good and i do quite a bit of video editing.
