BF1942 w/Radeon 9700 pro

Is there something I'm missing here? I can't run the BF1942 Demo (with/without the patch) on my system. My monitor goes black, and the systems locks up hard. Anyone else having this problem? I ain't buying the game if it won't run on the latest equipment.

can you get into the game menu?

if so then disable shadows in the graphics settings,
if the game is slow, then disable the ingame sound, the sound system is very very buggy, something that will be fixed in the 1.2 patch

Works fine on my radeon 9700pro. Just get the 2.4 driver from the ati website. www.ati.com

I have the 2.4 drivers, now still don't work, It won't let me past the opening screen that shows EA sports. But it might be the sound. I'll try dissabling the on board sound and see if it fixes the problem.

edit. Sorry, I have the 2.3 drivers, 2.4 is for win2k and xp only, I'm running Win98se, 2.3 is buggy(won't let me into advanced properties to set OpenGL settings etc.), trying to download 7.76 from sapphire, and 4-13-01-9062 from ATI
Sound had no effect.

I give up... I have WinXP pro ordered, and a full copy of BF1942 on the way. Hopefully the finished product will work better.
