BF2 is annoying

I bought BF2 a few months back and got annoyed with it(and sold it). I figured I didn't give it a chance so I bought it again(for cheap) and have been playing it for a while now and it just gets more annoying. I tried one server where all my teams flags was captured but 2(with no good vehicles or aircrafts). I tried my best to get into their base but it was guarded by a tank. Not to mention they had air support. Everytime BOOM I'm dead time and time again. Anti Tank gun is useless against tanks IMO. Seems to take me 3-4 shots in the back of the tank to blow one up. I am lucky if I am still alive by the time I get the second shot off. It should not take more than 2 shots no matter where you shoot a tank at IMO.

Well got aggravated and joined another server where the game just started. Well I am on the US team and I can't get to the island(Wake Island) because someone keeps bombing our aircrafts. I tried using a boat but can't make it half way. Can't shoot them down because they take out our guns on the ship every time.

This game needs some sort of rocket launcher for aircrafts like Desert Combat did. Or does it? Is there something I might not know about in the game? I am still fairly new with BF2 but played alot of Desert Combat.

Sorry for the long post. But I am on the verge of selling this copy like I did the last.

Yeah armor, helis, and planes are a big contribution to why it's so frustrating IMO. I always play infantry maps, but even then in maps like Ghost Town, the choppers are annoying as hell. There's just not good enough anti-armor or anti-air weapons.

I seen they have BF2 Deluxe now for $40 which is BF2 + Special Forces. I almost always play SF. For regular BF2, Karkand, Mashtuur City, and another one or two are not as bad for air.


I've hardly played BF2 lately much less any games, but I still like it. When you find a decent game it's a lot of fun, but over quick since the rounds are too short most of the time IMO.

Yeah I agree it's frustrating as hell especially for a new player. The aircrafts are the worst. A good jet pilot can totally wtfpwn everything on the map. Add the weapons unlocking, it can make for a very unpleasant experience.

Maybe I'll just sell it and load Desert Combat back up. I seemed to do better with it. I am sure with time I would do good but I'm not sure I can handle playing that long. This game really does needs to be balanced just a little bit more. I wonder if anyone still plays Desert Combat now that this is out?

I'd hold on to it for a little while longer... once the 1.4 patch comes out try an infantry only server to see how you like it... that way you won't have to worry about the tanks and planes.

There are also servers out there that don't allow base raping, so you wouldn't have to worry about your carrier getting bombed.

Like I said I am fairly new with BF2 but how can I tell if servers don't allow carrier bombing and if a server is infantry only?

Of course BF2 without tanks and planes doesn't seem any fun but I'll try it. Wasn't saying they was bad I just think it takes way to much to take them out.

BTW whats 1.4 suppose to fix/add?

Oh yeah, I LOVE Strike at Karkand. If you think jets and helicopters are annoying, then play in a 24/7 Karkand server! And Mastuur city too!

do yourself a favor and get rid of it again. i still have my copy but its not installed. so much potential with that game and it was ruined.

I loved BF1942, but BF2 is extremely boring by comparison. The only thing I enjoyed in it was flying the invincible F-35 around and going 40-0 every round and watching people complain and accuse me of hacking. Even that eventually got boring, and you can't do it much of that anymore anyway because of what they did with the air-to-air missiles (any mouse flying noob can now just click and kill you without even aiming, if he saw you first).

BF2 peaked in its demo version.

Strike at Karkand is hands down the best map evar. Perfect combo of vehicles and infantry. I think there should be a plane in that map though, and it should be in the middle of the map (for both sides to fight over).

You are cannon fodder for the players who actually know what they are doing.

Edit: Want some motivation? A good squad can take out a tank and 2 APCs before they even know what hit them. Realizing how to work as a team is the only difficulty. Once you are in the anti-tank squad that takes down hellicopters you will come to understand what the true strength of the foot soldier is. This doesn't happen overnight and until you begin to understand where you are safe and where you are a walking bullseye, it will continue to be a painfull learning experience.

I hardly ever get taken out by choppers/tanks and whatever else. You just have to know how to play the game. If you man a jeep you can take out a chopper REAL quick.

The key is to get into good squads because like skace said, on your own it may take a few shots to blow up a tank, but when you have a squad with 2-3 anti-tank kits, you can destroy any armor quickly.

Now the other side to that is..... if you get on a team where the armor plays together, it can be VERY hard to take them out unless you can get close enough to use C4.
