BF2 No longer runs

Installed BF2 to start playing again and it won't play on my machine (listed in sig). Patched to 1.41 but it won't even show the flash screen, the monitor flickers a couple of times and then minimizes to desktop where I can't get it to open again. and just have to quit out of it.

Delete the BF2 folder in "My Documents". Trust me -- it works

if you're overriding refresh rate from 60hz to 75hz, this can cause BF2 to quickly exit after trying to start it.
you can avoid this by not forcing refresh rate for 800x600, or if you cant do that, then it might work if you force 800x600 to 60hz.

Did anyone tell you yet to right click the game icon and set the compatibility mode for xp sp2 and to run the game as administrator?

run as administrator. Happened to me with guild wars.

Slightly off topic but relevant in a way...how do I get it to stop asking whether it is ok to do something whenever I click something...click a program on the desktop and the screen dims and a window comes up asking me whether it is allowed. Is that admin mode? How do I change that on my account (only one on the PC)
