The debates are ultimately meme material and fodder. We're living in the age of Tik Tok and Insta.

Older folks might sit through the 1.5 hour shitpile that these debates for sure will be, but the war is going to be won or lost on social media where the side that can leverage the flubs and rambling the best will see the best returns.

Biden needs to get Trump to say stupid stuff about abortion, political vendettas, overthrowing elections, and then the campaign needs to get that out to the world. Trump in return will capitalize on Biden's "oldness" and just general decrepitude and run with that.

The goal here for Biden will be to try and mobilize his base (black, young, and female voters) by demonstrating what a complete fuckwad DJT is and that he's got nothing for them.

Biden-Harris campaign has accepted a CBS invitation for a VP debate. This probably completes what they are willing to do.

Apparently a lot of grumbling from Trumpworld about how they've stolen their thunder here.
A clown car campaign is crying because a professional political campaign is kicking his ass?!

Shitlol

Terribly? The election was way too close for comfort. You live in a la la land where Biden demolished Trump in 2020, as you've said many times. This is why we can't have nice things, people don't live in reality.
So you are arguing that the debates helped Trump? Or are you arguing a point he didn’t make?

Biden tends to do pretty well in debates. He fucking laughed Paul Ryan right the fuck off the stage a decade ago, and did just fine in 2020.

There's no reason to try hiding Biden away, and it's a great move to have Biden agree to a debate and have Trump back out like the cowardly shitbag he is.

There might be some super ultra purity "lefties" who think we should run the ghost of Eugene Debbs instead of Biden and hide Biden away in a basement somewhere, but that's not how you win an election. You can safely ignore those people.

It’s weird that people keep saying this. In 2020 he was widely regarded to have benefitted from the debates - so much so that Trump dropped out of the third one.

What changed?

2020 was an eternity ago, bro. You keep talking about 2020 as it means anything.

No I'm not talking about the debates. I think Biden did fine and as I posted I think he did the right move with this debate challenge.

That guy has said multiple times about how massively and terribly Trump was beaten in 2020. I find that extremely misleading because the Trump was not massively beaten in 2020. He lost, but it wasn't this terrible beat down.

Thats fine - so explain to me what has changed where debates turned out to be positive for Biden and now.

My guess is you will just do some hand waving declaration of doom like you always do.

4 years is an *eternity*! Anyway, it's been 8 years since the Russians pimped millions of lies to gulibile americans thru social media. They are still at it (like, uhm, at Muskville Twitter) - but the impact will be much less important than it was back then (a double eternity ago).

But doesn’t make sense how so many have the memory of a goldfish. Biden had radio interview aimed at a black market. He says “remember who the orange monkey is” in regards to how he treats blacks.

In the segment, apparently 20% of blacks considering not voting in November. Like > _ <

What's changed? LOL are you serious?

His approval ratings are in the toilet and he is visibly more frail and gaffe-prone.

What do approval ratings have to do with a debate?

As for ‘visibly more frail and gaffe prone’ that’s what I figured. Shit you just made up.

Funny that Trump’s supporters agree with me and don’t want him to debate.

Forget this guy's crazy attitude but if you can't admit Biden does look noticeably more frail than 4 years ago, you are lost in the sauce.

Well the post was about the debate being good for Biden and bad for Trump.

Both you and fski are right about 2020. Trump was beaten by historic margins and lost both houses and the White House as an incumbent which is objectively one of the worst outcomes for an incumbent president in American history.

On the flip side that came on the back of a few 10,000s of votes in strategic states. That’s a fine margin when you have two regular candidates and way to close when one is a wannabe dictator.

But this is the part that matters when it comes to actually winning the election. When he says his things, it's to dismiss any criticisms of Biden the candidate. As in it was a historic win, so what's the issue.

Well back in reality for what actually counts, is a candidate that can't just rack up statistics but actually decisively win the actual election.

To dismiss criticism of Biden completely by ignoring the reality of how close the election was, is extremely foolish first of all, and a good way to turn off people who have issues with Biden.

Young voter turnout was higher than expected in 2020 and 2022 IIRC

Women in particular are especially incentivized to vote when their autonomy is at stake
Exit poll data is a science. The science isn't wrong but the results have been way off in exit poll data since at least the Obama administration in every election. I am guessing the voter turnout results you are referring to were doctored/rigged/altered to fit a public narrative.

up compared to historical levels, at least according to research from Tufts

OTOH, the pew research center indicates a relatively steady youth vote (11 and 10% in 2018 and 2022 respectively).
brookings also indicates a low turnout for 2022, but notes that where youth DID turn out, it was in favor of democrats, which stymied the "red wave" that so many had initially predicted. (https://www.brookings.edu/articles/...uth-women-and-black-americans-in-some-states/)

Why "Slime Boy Slim"? I assume you're going with a Fat Boy Slim reference with that nickname. But Fat Boy Slime was right there, still accurately describes Trump's body style, is a better pun, and only requires one letter change.

Honestly, I did not see this coming. I thought 45 was going to pull a Kay Ivey on this one and stick to campaigning only. He seems to relish his rallies. On the other hand, Biden agreeing to this is equally as puzzling, as he seems to have everything to lose and nothing to gain by debating Trump.
