Lol ... The people who have spent years hurling the most vile insults at Democrats are now crying and clutching their pearls that Biden has called them out, with justification. Such increasingly wild and desperate flailing from Trump and his enablers means they’re scared.

If a speech about defending democracy strikes you as overly divisive and political, you may be part of the problem. Biden declared war on fascism and Republicans took it as a personal attack.

Did you note the back ground and the lighting? The two Marines? The only thing they missed was putting Biden in a flashy generals uniform with thirty fake medals.
What moron thought this entire display was a good idea? Someone decided that this was the image they wanted to present, someone decided that issuing a straight up challenge to half the nation was a sensible idea.
Everyone involved in this particular piece of theater should be fired.
yeah.. it's crazy that they chose to lite up a red brick building with red lights rather than some contrasting color.. /s
The Two Marines is normal, if you have every paid much attention to Presidential speeches, which another user has pointed out as well. You are reaching for a narrative that does not exist.

This speech was not about what you think it is. This was about preparing the nation for an ex-President to be charged with serious crimes.

I know that I've been one of the first people to say that they will never charge Trump, but this speech makes me think that it is about to happen. I would be surprised if by this time next Friday there is not an announcement by the DOJ that they have issued an arrest warrant for Trump.

This speech can easily be seen as Biden was laying down the framework for why it is no longer in the nation's best interest to ignore Trump's crimes any more. That just because it might be seen as political it is essential to the survival of our democracy that no one, not even a President, be above the law.

That's... unfortunate.
You know how the Biden admin preempted Russia's moves in the war by announcing their intentions before they acted.
Same playbook?

As in... they'll do it, but they KNOW terrorism will follow, and want to set the stage before Republicans act?

Dems finally punched back hard with the truth.

Was there anything Biden said that was factually incorrect?

Much better wording than deplorables.

At least you don't (mis)underestimate the "enemies of the state"!

It depend on which state you are talking about. Conservatives are not very smart. "Are they an enemy of Alabama?" haha

I still find it disappointing, it's the sort of thing that Trump would say. The point is to rile up the base and appear strong. All he's doing is adding a little more fuel to the fire, a little more anger, a little more division. He's making himself into Trump lite, and I couldn't be more disappointed.
How would you reply to this:

“Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject.”

And then we have this happening from MAGA tards...

Biden is a divider, he wants to divide the normal republicans from the crazy/dishonest ones.

You should have MAGA as another political party in the US. We're having elections in the province of Quebec currently, many parties to choose from. The crazy ones get fewer votes because most people are sane.

agree. the one thing I was thinking earlier today, that Trump can do that was ever good in his shitty fucking idiot criminal loser life, is to get so pissed about everything (and he's bitching like a 3 year old all over his online this last week), and he claimed "if he wins in 2024!" today like...is he actually running or what? He didn't say it so, no.....

so what I think might happen is that he's just ginning up his sister-fucking cult to just believe he is running and will be president at this point so that no matter what, they will at the very least obey his eventual command to "WRITE IN TRUMP!" 2024. ...it will be a motto, fucking believe me.

All the fucking trucknuts-filigreed F150s that you know in your life today will, within 1 year from now, be suddenly adorned with "WRITE-IN-TRUMP!" (but flashier in the way stupid Magats are so retarded with their mottos), and it will be everywhere.

And that's it. If Trump just siphons off another $10-15 million from these fucking rubes over the next two years of his legal nightmare, not actually run but get the word out that the only chance to SAVE MAGA! is to write in Trump. 2024.

Imagine what happens when 15-35 million true believer pieces of abject human shit actually do that and carve this massive hole out of the GOP. Make them all completely irrelevant. The entire fucking party. Because you know that you can depend on at least 20 million larval-stage republicans to fall for it. You know they will.

How awesome would this be, no?

Yeah, that would be great, but unfortunately he is going to run. Unless he's in jail. Then again, I could see a bunch of MAGA tards writing him in even then.

What would really destroy the GOP is if Trump ran and lost in their primary. Because he would say the primary was rigged and go after the RNC. It would wreck the party. Unfortunately if he runs he will likely win the primary.

Personally I look forward to Trump running again. He certainly will lose and lose bigly.
I think that is the best way to finally purge the fascists from the Republican Party and yes I am saying we need a functional Republican Party.
Hard question is what happens with these new election laws and would those states changing what their voters voted for do anything to change the result.

The purpose of the speech is to juice dem turnout in November. Polling shows that over 70% of registered dems believe democracy is at risk. While the other 30% probably aren't paying enough attention. And the polls also say dems put the issue as the number 1 top priority.

What I find interesting about the polling is that it's mainly the dems who think democracy is at risk. Since polling also shows that over half of republicans think the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, wouldn't you think that over half of them would say democracy is at risk in a poll? I mean, how can you believe a presidential election was stolen, and presumably also believe that the tools remain to steal future elections, and not believe democracy is at risk?

Unless a sizeable chunk of the people saying the election was stolen don't actually believe the election was stolen...

Didn't we just have a thread(s) where we bemoaned Democrats refusing the take the gloves off???

The cult needs to be addressed and destroyed head on.

Absolutely. Being passive in the face of an enemy who is active and aggressive is not going to be a winning strategy. If people worry about lowering ourselves to their level, I would point out one crucial difference: they do nothing but lie, but every word Biden said in that speech is the truth. When they attack with lies and you attack back with the truth, you aren't lowering yourself to their level.

as I said in that thread, no more:
When they go low we go high
That’s loser bullshit talk. I don’t want to hear anything even similar to that for the foreseeable future.
I think Biden is the right guy for right now. His words were appropriate and basically saying to non Deplorable’s “Don’t be stupid, I want you guys to be around”

Hopefully not another foot in mouth "deplorables" moment for the Dems.
Wonder if reaction would be different if Hilary said a portion of Trump's supporters were Deplorables instead of half?

The Independent State Legislature case will render most attempts moot.
If you think Democrats, after winning those states, will stand by and let those legislatures overturn the election and thereby end democracy in the US you are going to be surprised to find yourself wrong... yet again.

I would ask who the bad men and good men are.
