Home from work and my buddy has unlocked it on Steam using a VPN to an IP where it is past 12:00am... tempted myself to rock that method out :ninja:

I'd always heard that you generally get banned if you use a VPN to purchase games for your account at cheaper prices available in other countries. As far as using it to unlock.. not really heard anything there.

Was just mulling it over as I want to play it since my wife isn't home yet and I have a good few hours free

Not to discredit the authors opionion, but I found that article to be very difficult to read.

"That’s something the consumer of such tales must be prepared for, and will so often feel let down by, but conversely the author has to deal with the fact that the offerings of their own imagination may not possibly be able to satisfy someone who’s become invested in the tale they began."

I cannot believe that is a complete sentence. What the hell is that person trying to accomplish explain in that sentence?

I think he is trying to make the point that when an author makes/writes a tale/world that is sci-fi where anything is possible, it can be difficult to for the story to continue to grip the reader/player as he can imagine almost any variant on what happened, and then be dissapointed by the "canon" version as set out by the creator.

The reason this is difficult to explain in the article is because he does not want to give spoilers so he can't use an example.

That's what I took it to mean anyway, I'm sure other people will read it differently!

That makes sense. Some sentences are sorely in need of a proper noun. Even then, the sentences almost read out as if they were translated by google.

"Here too, the mystery is corporeal, all contained within the alternately fragile and powerful form of sometime damsel-in-distress Elizabeth. Who and what is she, what can her reality-bending powers do and why can they do it?"

Am I the only one seeing improper word and sentence usage? Or should I say: in all words contained such that, sometimes like in-forum-poster distress, and may that person might speak of such a thing?

"The thing about fantastical fiction is that you’re completely at the mercy of the author. You’re paying for them to share the contents of their head with you, and in any setting not bound by the rules of our Earthly existence, they can do and justify whatever they want. The right buzzwords, pseudoscience and space-magic, and anything can be achieved, any discrepancy simply waved away."-- Whoa, no bias there!

OMG - "Right now, still trying to absorb the giddying clusterbomb of condensed exposition, subtle emotional clout, incredible spectacle and get-out-of-narrative-jail-free cards which hits in the final minutes of BioShock: Infinite, I just don’t know how people are going to take it."

What kind of kid is typing this crap up? Is this guy writing for a video game site or a does he think he is trying to land that job at The New York Times? Nothing I can't stand more is pretentious writing!

I've used a VPN to unlock games early several times now. As long as you don't bypass their regional pricing, they don't give a shit.

Yeah, that's RockPaperShotgun for you. They are pretty pretentious.

I agree to some extent, but I'd rather that than some exclusive paid off review like we got from IGN - plus I personally prefer to read something that does contain some more intelligent stuff. I would also point out that the article in question is probably a fair amount more 'flowery' than most of their stuff!

Crise did anyone see the scores this game is receiving; 36 reviews and the lowest was 88.

I bought this on Steam a long time ago, I knew there was no chance I wouldn't want it. I even got the season pass, something I've never done for any game before. (In fact I tend to avoid a lot of DLC...)

My only regret now is that I didn't get the songbird edition or at least a PHYSICAL copy of the game. But no biggy... I guess. I do have a fondness for physical media and a box though

I called Best Buy and it seems I got the issue with my season pass code resolved... should arrive in my e-mail soon.

This is my first pre-order ever. And the most I've ever spent on a game. My previous high was $32 for Fallout 3.

Adam Sessler's review hasn't been posted yet?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jchIi-vR_js

The guy's extremely passionate and well-spoken. Anyone on the fence should watch that video.

Yea, kinda eery that they made it so well you feel the bond to the girl. And the mention of it being like a Disney movie where you are compelled want to help her reach the goal is very interesting. Other than that, I hope it's not a rehash of Laputa.

Based on the various reviews out now it seems like all the hype for this was warranted. Quite a few 10/10s actually, looking at the reception aggregation on the wiki for bioshock infinite. Really wish I could take off work tomorrow to be honest.

I could try using my VPN to play but I'll wait until tomorrow. Based on the reviews I sure hope I enjoy this one more than I did bioshock 2. Had a slow time getting through that and 1 but one was unique as always first in the series.

Wow check this one out from Aus Gamers via Metacritic:
"I don't know how else to tell you that this is the game videogames were made for. It’s the game every other designer wishes they could make. It’s a watershed moment for our industry, and I’d be hard pressed to tell you that anything that came before is better. More so, however, I can’t imagine that anything else, in my lifetime, will top this. All bold statements, I know, but this is it and I’m reviewing it. BioShock Infinite is the sort of game we dream of reviewing. It’s the Ocarina of Time of this generation (only infinitely better), and will be talked about and analysed for years to come."

Four more hours.

Now to find something to distract me from watching the clock. Hmmm, I never did the online game that came with the preorder, is it worth finishing?

You get some kind of unlock/gift/prize in BSI if you do at least I think the first 20 levels of the Industrial Revo game.

I used a VPN to unlock it a few hours ago. The game is amazing in my estimation. So many cool mechanics and dynamics added. It still surprises/scares you constantly with enemies and the story really draws you in.

I'm generally not that big on single player story driven games, but loved Bioshock 1. This game really is very good  I have no idea how far in I am but I already want to pick up the DLC now because I know what there is will end at some point.
