Pretty deep into the game now. Can't say where as it would spoil things. This one is a GOTY contender imo.

Any suggestions for mouse sensitivity? The difference from complete off to one notch to the right is insane. Mouse acceleration is turned off, but it just seems really fast at one notch. Completely off is a little too slow when turning.

Playing it on highest settings with a GTX480 and it runs just fine. I have to say once you step into the city, it's pretty damn cool. There's a clown juggling that looks down right lifelike standing right next to him. Been playing for about 40 minutes and just enjoying exploring.

Is the main chars voice by the guy who does Archer?

Me too - absolutely fascinating to look around at everything - it's a genuinely unique environment. I think this is the first game where I've been baptized and then serenaded by a barbershop quartet.

I'll probably wait until this is cheap. Didn't think the original Bioshock was as good as everyone said it was. Skipped part 2 as well.

I get pretty high performance, but I do notice spikes where my framerate will drop to half or less. It seems to happen when I'm running around, so it might be some issue of loading new things in or something along those lines.

It also seems that you can skip the movies if you watch them once.

If you didn't enjoy Bioshock 1 enough to play Bioshock 2 (sure, it's not an Irrational game, but it improved the gameplay mechanic for sure), I'm not sure whether you should play this one at all.

Yeah, its distracting. I have Dxtory running so I'm looking at the framerate, and 110fps feels like crap because it must be dipping or something. Sometimes the framrate consistently drops to like 70-80, but it looks like it should always be smooth and it isnt.

I manually edited the ini to turn off mouse acceleration, and it was OK, then I rebinded some keys and the mouse just went haywire. And there is no hold for ADS, just a toggle. And the save system kinda blows...I was at the part after I killed the fireman, and killed all the guys after that. I quit out to check on the mouse settings again, and when I came back in the loaded all the way back to where you first get a pistol. And whats the deal with the achievements? Seems like you get them for doing nothing...and its like 1/75, 1/20, etc. Never seen that before.

I think I will wait for someone to put out a PC tweak guide or utility. This might be an interesting game, but I'm too annoyed to play atm. hahaha...the sensitivity is so off from what I'm used to that Windows now feels weird.

Yeah that mouse setting is effed. Turning it all the way down and using mouse dpi adjustment and I have bad input lag. Leaving it at default and adjusting the dpi results in a over sensitive cross hair that is hard to aim at targets accurately and precisely.

Isn't mouse acceleration in the keyboard & mouse section of the options?

The game only saves when you get that swirly circle with the "Saving Profile" text next to it in the top right corner. When you go to quit, the game will also warn you by listing out the time of your last save. Although, I don't recall it listing the current time anywhere, so you'd have to hit shift+tab to see the Steam overlay if you're not exactly sure what time it is. To let you know, you needed to go across the bridge into the restaurant for it to save your game.

The X/Y is just a progression-based achievement. In other words, you need to do the action Y times to get the achievement, and you just performed it for the Xth time. I think there's one for scrounging money from something. I haven't really looked, but I've gotten somewhere around 20/200.

The mouse sensitivity is rather high. I have it turned down really far in the settings, but it seems a bit faster than you would suspect. I might just turn my mouse (Logitech G700 on 3/3) down a notch while I'm in Bioshock, which should help.

The game's running smooth as butter for me, save for the occasional "hitching" probably when the game is trying to stream content from my slow-ass hard drive.

The "Lock Framerate" setting in the graphics options is very helpful. It seems to be locking my framerate to 60fps, which is why it looks so damn smooth.

"Very High" graphics preset works perfect. "Ultra" is another story; it seems to be a bit janky on my modest 7870. If anyone is having any kind of performance problems with the game on Ultra settings, I would suggest not using "Ultra" and maybe trying "Very High" instead.

Well, whats odd is you turn it off in the game, but when you look at the ini its set to true. Turning it off manually helped.

Yeah, I went through it again and saw it after I entered the building.

Is this new? When I was looking back at the footage I recorded, I noticed it said progress. I havent seen this before.

I think this is contributing to the choppiness I feel in the game. I'm looking here, then there almost instantly. I usually play at like 10% sensitivity.

Oh, and you cant shoot through bushes. I had a firefight with a robot that took awhile, because I thought he was just a bullet sponge, but a leaf on a bush that I was using for cover was blocking all my bullets! lol Mouse and ADS toggle issues aside, I do like the shooting.

Amusing; normally the user ratings (metacritic) are like 2 and 3 for a game like this but this time around they are starting out as 9 and 10; wonder if it will hold up.

Ugh, someone said they completed the game in 7 hours.

If you're talking about the user review on meta critic, that guy sounds like he just ran through like a fool. It's not a long game, but the other estimates put it at double that playtime.

People managed to complete the new TR in 3.5 hours. It took me 18 If I can get 15-20 hours out of this game, that's a perfect length for me for a single player game.

Personally I feel you should play the game on hard. I also think it would go faster if you just rush through to the current objective and ignore all the possible areas you can explore to find cash, gear and vigor etc.

If you just load it up on easy and rush objectives, I doubt it will take all that long to finish :whiste:

Has anyone verified if the PC version has controller support? I am assuming it does but would like to know ahead of time.

Ugh, someone said they completed the game in 7 hours.

I saw that review on metacritic. It should be said that most of the user reviews on metacritic consist of people that haven't even played the game, or are trolling. The fact that most "user reviews" are either a 10 (from shills) or zeros (trolls) is quite telling. I hardly pay attention to the user reviews anymore, a lot of them are just ridiculous. And then you have IGN "exclusive" reviews which are always a 9.5/10 without fail. HMM.

I don't know what to make of it. I tend to wait for reviews from reputable critics (ie not IGN) and go from there. Anyway, I don't think anyone will beat it in 7 hours.
