You know, it kind of makes me wonder. Most birth control is 99% effective. That effectively means, out of 100 times you have sex and use the birth control method (pills or condom) you have a good chance that one of those times will be a loser!

So, if you have sex with your significant other 4 times per week, you run the risk or pregnancy every 25 weeks or 175days...

I know they only give it the 99% rating because they can't ever say 100%, but the odds aren?t in your favor if you think about it. The odds are still pretty high as a child can ruin the life of someone who is irresponsible enough to have sex, but not think about the consequences.

I think it's 100% when used correctly. There's always people who put on the condom wrong, miss a few pills, don't pull out in time, etc... And I think they throw off the success rate.

it's only 99% effective if it is done properly.
Like the pills, you have to take it everyday at the same time or else it will lower the %
Condom too, that you'd have to put it on correctly and there's no hole, blah blah blah

But there's these birth control shots, called Depo Provera, which last for 3 months each shot, it's 99% and I totally trust that... there's also this kinda shot that last for one month too, same thing as the the Depo, forgot what the name is though...

Well, you have to remember that a girl can get pregnant only 5 days a month. So this 99% effective crap is applicable only during those days. This is at least what my girl claims...

First off, remember the pill prevents the egg from being released. It doesn't work on a per encounter basis like a condom. So you don't run the risk of pregnency every 100 times you have sex. You have to factor in ovulation and what not.

Also, I think the 99% effective doesn't mean that 1 out of 100 months an egg will slip by, I think it means that the pill works on 99% of the population. Some people the chemicals just don't work the same for.

I agree with CattyKathy. Get the depo shots. They are great. Never worry about that time of the month. You don't have &quot;it&quot;. Which means no eggs are released.
