The noise doesn't bother me too much when I'm occupied on the computer. It just blends in with the rest of the background noise. However, when I'm away from the computer, I can distinctly hear that hairdryer sound from the corner of my apartment. It actually bothers me more away from the computer.
I glued one left over carpet on the inside of my case cover to cut down the noise. Certain kinds of shipping sponges are also good for dampening the noise. I guess we need to be more innovative as long as the air flow inside the case is not blocked.
i've ordered this fan and its about 10-15% louder than another Black-Label Delta that i ordered from another online store. I'm not sure this thing is a delta....it doesn't look much like my other 1 and its louder w/ the same performance.
i have an idea, use the low noise stock fan and open the case and place a normal deskfan next to it blowing inward. u'll have more air flow and none of that hair dryer noise
