This sucks. I wish they would stop harassing smokers and tobacco companies for no reason.

Can somebody please find one article that shows that secondhand smoke was directly the cause of a person's death. JUST ONE ARTICLE FROM A TRUSTED UNBIASED SOURCE!

I have recently read information to the contrary. I will try to find the article again.

we can sit here all day and find research that says this or that, but does that make it any less dangerous? no, it really doesnt

If there is proof saying second hand smoke does not cause any ill affects then yes it does make it less dangerous. Think before you make statements like that.

Sorry, it's not even general knowledge that smoking causes cancer. Smoking may cause cancer for some people. Just like driving an auto may cause death. Luck of the draw!

You're arguement is flawed.

Please.... do you drive/ride in a car or any other vehicle that uses a petroleum-fueled internal combustion engine?
I thought so.
Do you have any idea how much more toxic than cigarette smoke auto exhaust is? And how one car spews more in a minute than a 1000 smokers could in a whole day?
I thought not.
Don't give me that 2nd hand BS... :|

While this may be true, it doesen't mean that it shouldn't be prevented..

It's kinda like the people that go around smoking that rationalize it by saying, "Well.. I'm going to die anyway."

And yeah, Oregon's budget shortfall really sucks. It's stupid that we basically count our chickens before they hatch. We plan where all this money is going to go.. then.. whoops, we don't have that much.. lol

Nicotine... Tar... Etc.

Don't repeat the bullsh!t the tobacco industry shoved up your ass, nor all the 'unbiased' research they pay institutes to do. If you pay me well enough I'll prove that Bush is actually not dumb.

The libertarian half of me is rather disgusted but side that enjoys smoke-free air isn't.

Agreed... I don't know where I stand on this one.

The Insurance premiums can't be helped, though - after all, while you are free to use them, it still is unhealty. Bad risk for the insurer.

I woke up in the middle of the night because I couldn't breathe...no, I don't smoke anymore. It's these damn forest fires in Colorado. Isn't it funny how inhaling smoke is annoying and irratating- yet some of us want to pay to indulge in tobacco.

The U.S. economy is in such poor shape that I wouldn't expect any state to be able to successfully balance its budget.

Interesting.

With times being tough right now, I am spending more than I make, so, who can I hand the bill to?

Last time I checked, you won't find any unbiased articles stating that 2nd hand smoke isn't bad for you. What you will find is the actual level of danger it presents the common person. Low. The cases where 2nd hand smoke causes a problem is when a child lives in a house with a pipe smoker or otherwise all their life. Or a person who shares a poorly ventilated work area with a heavy smoker for any extended period of time. I am glad my work area is smoke free as I have seen an office from pre-smokefree that had all yellow stained walls and cielings. Anyone ever seen a room that a heavy smoker used to smoke in constantly? Ever seen the stained brown/yellow walls? Makes you never want to pick up a cig.

These tax hikes arn't right in my mind. But smokers should prove something by boycotting. Too bad they are too addicted to pull off a boycott.

No, smokers should just buy all their smokes off the web... no taxes and they still get to smoke.

Would you buy cigarettes on the black market if the government would threat it the same way they do with marihuana?
