It came to this since all of you seem to bring the RS6 into the conversation whenever we discuss ricers, BMW's or what migh not.

Some things to check out if you dont know what you like:

RS6

Performance Comparison

M5 = 400 hp 0-60 in 4.8sec Top speed 155mph (limited)
RS6 - 460 hp 0-60 in 4.8sec Top speed 155mph (limited)

They look about the same on paper... RS6 is a bit heavier.

Now THIS is a tough decision. In the end i would have to go for the M5 though. No real reason why, i just like the car a little better...

RS6 since it's AWD

Err i dunno, i voted for the M5.

M stands for Macho
RS stands for Real Speed?

The RS6 is looking good. The only drawback (in my opinion) is its automatic tranny. My vote goes to the 6 speed M5.

the RS6 has to have an option for a 6 speed manual

It basically comes down to AWD vs. RWD. I'd personally prefer RWD, especially since the M5 has a 6-speed and will probably get SMG. So, my vote goes to BMW.

I would have to go M5, due to the generally tame, understeering handling of S- and RS-series Audis, and the lack of a manual transmission. Too bad really, because the RS6 is gorgeous inside and out, and clearly has tremendous ultimate performance.

RS6 for a couple reasons.

It's turboed from the factory; anyone who knows someone with a modded S4 would know that small upgrades to the engine unlock a lot of horsepower. The M5 doesn't have the same amount of potential from the factory. It could probably be chipped, along with a host of other Dinan mods, but it would be hard to push it to 500HP.

It's AWD. Keeps the power planted to the ground. Audi's are excellent autoX cars.

Actually that's pretty silly. Coming ALREADY twin-turboed from the factory from an engine that size and it still only pulls a 4.8 isn'tgood, but not great. Now imagine if you turboed that M5? Talk about laying the smack down. M5 is a top notch car all around.

I'm bias though, i LOVE the m5 M5 all the way.

Adding forced aspiration can obviously add a lot of balls to nearly any car, but I would not have the wherewithal to give away the warranty coverage on a car as expensive and complex as an M5 by adding a supercharger.

The craziest part of this guy's web site is his page after page of BMW fashion faux pas, some of which are guaranteed to give you a headache. For example, check out this 6-series.

RS6 with manual tranny, mostly cause M5's are about as rare as Ford Focus's, while Audi RS cards are quite rare.

The RS6 is not available with a manual. I don't know where you live, but I definitely don't see M5s every day!

I live in Stockholm, Sweden, and I see a $hitload of M5's.
The M5 along with Carrera's and Jag S-Type's seem to have become among the most common cars these days.
And let's not even start talking about the gazillions of fake M5's out there, 5 series with styling kits etc, bleh :|

If I look out my window right now I see 2 Jag SType's, and I could probabaly count 10 M5's in 20 minutes if I keep my eyes open.

Audi RS cars OTOH, that's a relatively rare sight, much more so than 360 Modena's and such.

R4 is on the way isn't it? How about R4 vs. M3?
I guess if R4 doesn't have a manual then M3.
