i was talking to someone who has had a fever for few days now
after we talked about half an hour, her bodytemperature rised about 1C
well now i'm anxious for knowing why did that happen
just wanted to know what do you think, also waiting for some professional opinions or links related to this subject
then i could give her an explanation why did this happen

It happened for the same reason that she had a fever in the first place, to combat whatever is trying to take hold in her body.

As much as you'd like to believe it, her temperature didn't rise as a result of conversing with you.

Yeah, a fever is your body's way of killing a virus. If, after it heats a bit, the virus is still present, it heats more.
And, just by the way, temperature isn't actually a measurement of heat, but something that is produced by heat.

Temperature is specifically a measurement of the average kinetic energy in a given space. Heat increases kinetic energy by accelerating particles.

As sad as it may be . . . most people are not very good at using or reading thermometers. It's less of an issue with electronic units with timers but placement is still an issue.

There's only one fail-safe when it comes to temps . . . hold on to your hats. Use an electronic unit and take a rectal temp. Rectal temps are the only reliable indicators of body temperature.

If your friend is concerned she should go see her doctor on MON . . . >90% of pathogenic fevers are caused by self-limiting viruses but that's no reason to ignore them particularly if your friend has associated symptoms of concern. Regardless, she should treat the temp; acetaminophen every four hours or ibuprofen every six hours.

If you gf had taken a drink of cool liquid before she took her temp the first time and then waited thiry minutes and took her temp again that could explain a 1 degree difference. Any drink will throw off a oral temp reading for a period of time.

I'm sure you can overdose on ibuprofin mcveigh, there must be a limit on how much the body can take unless the excess is just flushed out of your system

The risk profile for ibuprofen at q4h dosing does not justify such a schedule considering the incremental benefit from q6h.

You can OD on almost ANYTHING. The max daily dose for ibuprofen is 3200mg. A single 2400mg dose will produce significant GI distress in the MAJORITY of people. Prescription strength ibuprofen is an 800mg horse-pill. It is typically used for aches/pains associated with minor trauma or some other acute insult. You can take 800mg 3-4 times per day for 5-7 days without significant adverse events. Use beyond a week greatly increases risk of ulcer development not to mention the antagonism of the heart protective effects of aspirin in the old coots.

Convenient and just as accurate as the typical analog thermometer as typically used. But I doubt there's a single ER in the country that uses them on a regular basis. External auditory canal thermometers are only accurate for adolescent or older ears that are clear of wax . . . everyone else needs an oral if not a rectal temp.
