I am toying with the idea of adding a book pc to my home audio center, mainly for mp3s, MAME and divx movies. I am wondering if anyone has done this before, and what the experience was like.
There are many geeky but cool aplications for this type of setup. Network storage for the jukebox and the movies, aswell as winamp visual plugins on the TV -- Not to mention the ability for web radio and general web surfing. TV resolution cant really compare to my desktop resolution of 3200x1200, but it will make some sort of attempt at 800x600, which might be fuzzy on a TV but good enough for most junk.
IR or RF keyboards are cheap, and you can add a USB remote controll for winamp atleast, and maybe the movies too. Also. most BookPCs have frot USB Ports for Gamepads on MAME.
Overall the it would cost less than $300 to set this up, which is decent, and would probably have most of the proper outputs to the TV and Reciever.
I think that it could be a fun project, what do you guys think?
Loren.
