Just found out about this, and have never even heard of it:

I assume this software works then?! If it does, I'll give it a go when I'm back on my desktop. What would an ATA133 drive compare to with this software installed (ie SATA, SCSI?!) ?

hmm, won't recognize my Maxtor drive

"Incompatibilities between MaxBoost and the following driver:

NVIDIA nForce2 SPP/IGP ATA Controller with a driver version 5.10.2600.344 dated from 05.06.2003 and referenced as IDE driver 3. MaxBoost does not recognize Maxtor drives when running with it. You need to get the free driver update available from the Nvidia web site."

Got the most current nvida drivers. Oh well.

Attempting to run the MaxBoost driver on unsupported system configurations can lead to decreased system performance or inconsistent system or disk drive behavior. installed. dont notice much of a difference yet though. possibly because i didnt do any hd intensive stuff yet. just browsing around doesnt show any imporvements because it never lags in the first place. ill experiment around a little.

I also downloaded it and now have the red arrow icon at the bottom. I really can't tell a big difference. I was really hoping for a big improvement when I open Qimage but I did not see it -- seems processing power is the holdup (2.6 ghz P4).

System otherwise seems fast either way. I will leave MaxBoost running anyway. Maybe those milliseconds I save will add up and I will gain a day.....

Are there any apps out there that work with all IDE hd drives? I'm willing to pay for something that would work with my multicultural drive array (1 samsung, 1 maxtor and 1 WD).

did people complain when Smartdrv did this?

i think the main problem was that people would just hit save, then turn off their computer with the off button. since the data was cached and there was a delay in writing to the drive, the data was lost when that user shut off the power.
