everything is brand new.... System won't boot or power on, don't even have a power LED on the MB. Switched out the PSU and still nothing. So the only possibility is the MB is bad or I am literally the dumbest person on the planet and forgot to plug something in?

Well...from here, it's hard to tell about that last bit...
BUT, IMO, the first thing to do is to make sure the on/off switch on the PSU is turned on... and make sure the outlet is hot...then do a quick function test on the power supply...

Then, IF you get signs that the PSU is good, start by removing everything from the case and try booting with only the CPU, CPU fan/heatsink, ONE stick of ram in whichever slot is appropriate for single slot use, and your video card.
Doing this helps eliminate any possibility of a short between board and case.
IF that works, add in your primary HDD and try again.
If you can see the HDD in the BIOS, try booting into Windows if you have it loaded. (if not, skip to the next step)
If you've gotten this far and everything is still booting to the BIOS, add one more stick of RAM in whichever slot gives you dual channel...try again.
Next, add your optical drive.
If you can get everything installed...and continue booting to the BIOS, it's time to put the board into the case.
Make double-damned certain that all the stand-offs are in the correct place. A mis-placed stand-off is the main cause of shorts between board and case...
If at any point, you can't boot to the BIOS, you SHOULD be able to pinpoint the cause...the last piece you added to the system.
IF you can't boot in the first step...double check your CPU for bent pins, check the cooler for proper TIM application, and check the RAM and video card to be sure they're installed correctly.
As for PSU connections...you should have the following connected:
20/24 pin ATX
4/8 pin EPS12V
power to your HDD, ODD, video card
