Bootup Issues

I have been experience some issues as far as booting up my custom built PC.

I hit the power button and it powers on but it seems the BIOS or mobo, doesn't load up. The tower is all light up (Antec 900 Case) but the keyboard and monitor are still in hibernate mode or appears that way, so it seems those two devices aren't getting responses from the mobo.

I am just trying to isolate the issue down to a component, which I am assuming my BIOS is bad or Mobo.

I have a custom built tower using:
Antec 900 Case
Corsair 620 HX PSU
Gigabyte 965P-DS3 Mobo
2x1GB OCZ DDR2 PC1000? Memory (I don't remember off top of my head)

and the rest of the components I do not think matter (GPU, Fans, Optical drives, etc)

If anyone has any ideas to help point in the right direction or steps to take that would be much appreciated.

Has this machine ever booted up properly? That sounds like in incompatible / bad CPU.

Actually the GPU is an important item to list. If the GPU is the problem then you won't see anything on screen and that would be why you don't see anything and your not getting past the BIOS. First thing you will want to do is get a speaker connected to the motherboard so you can listen to the beep codes the motherboard is giving. That will indicate if there is a problem and what it might be.

Yes. I built it approx. 18-24 months ago and since then it has worked. Just recently, the past 2 weeks? it has been acting up. It powers up but no peripheral load, it seems to cycle like normal, just no peripherals power up.

More in detail description of my setup

Antec 900 Case
Corsair 620 HX PSU
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 rev 3.3 Mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Batch: L709A171
----Artic Cooling MX-1 Thermal Compound w/
----Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 (stock base, unmodded, I did not sand) w/
----Scythe S-Flex SFF21F Fan
Seagate 72200.7 ST3400632A 400GB 16MB Cache
2x1GB Sticks of OCZ PC2 8500 memory (OCZ2N1066SR2GK)
Asus EAH 4850 512MB DDR3 Video Card
Samsun DVDRW SH-183L Optical Drive
and another Scythe S-Flex SFF21F Fan to be used in the inner mid case slot (for the so called "wind tunnel" case feature)

Peripherals: (items not loading up)
Saitek Eclipse 2 Keyboard (its kinda old, so at 1st I thought it was dead)
Dell 2405 FPW Monitor (did not wake either so eliminated dead Saitek idea)
Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse (had this thing for as long as my monitor and still is a beast, sad they stopped making them)
Logitech Z5500s.

OS:
Windows XP Home SP3
That is pretty much EVERYthing associated with the system that is not fully loading. I am now starting to think it is a mobo issue but after reading USSFletcher's post (similar to mine, but he swapped PSU and mobo) I am starting to ??? as what is wrong. I listed some model numbers etc for those who know anything about bad batches etc.

I did have this system successfully OC'd and burned in at 3 Ghz (very modest OC for a 2.13Ghz stock) for a few months after i built it but then reset to default because I didn't need it OCd because I built another faster PC. Other major history that may concern, I have reformatted once after a keylogger was found in my PC (I use this mainly for WoW and email, etc) from me visiting a stupid link on the MMO Champion forums. But none of that should matter I think.

As far as I know everything is compatible, I doubt the Corsair 620 HX is remotely near capacity as nothing is OC'd anymore and its a 620 Watt PSU for a single medium GPU.

Now the ram - cpu relationship I admit, I never really study/read much upon but I believe they are compatible still.

If you have another PC then try the video card in it or a friend's PC. It could be a bad video card. But getting a speaker connected to the motherboard should reveal where the problem is at.

Problem was solved rather easily. Replaced the video card with my old X1950 Pro and it worked fine. I didn't have to install the speaker to the mobo (but I did at the same time as installing my old X1950 Pro) because the Asus 4850 has a set of LEDs that light up when the card is bad, or that's what I found out after googling a little bit.

Also if Silvart can enlighten me as to his comment:

that would be appreciated. AFAIK I have compatible parts but his statement makes me question the PCs I have built since then as I am 99% I use compatible components.
