My opinions/Initial Impressions: Played a Siren to 13, Roland to 18.
- It's an RPG and FPS. The four classes are distinct while at the same time being able to do anything depending on playstyle. At no point did I feel like I needed to be playing a certain way with either my Soldier or Siren - I'm sure there's a way to min/max but basically I was using whichever gun I liked to use, even though it may/may not have been the "highest damage lol" gun and still having a blast.
- I didn't really think about it, but I've never had to switch/rotate/pick up as many weapons in a FPS as I've had to do in this game. Looting is pretty fun since there's always the hope that something really neat will drop, they captured this from Diablo style RPG's pretty well.
- I wish we had more inventory space, but that's a preference. What this game really needed though is a Chest or Bank of some sort. It sucks to get a weapon that'll be hot in 2 levels and you go "well.. gotta have it eat up my inventory space I guess"
- The difficulty is wonky. Some stuff there's no possibly way you can die unless you leave for a few minutes, other stuff you might die but you'll likely pull through, and other stuff you just really really have no chance.
- The Multiplayer is a mess. I think a lot of people were suspicious when we found out GameSpy was doing the matchmaking - these fears have proven to be true.
- I thought the art style would bug me. I've been indifferent towards it, but really playing now I hardly notice it.
- This is not a "PC Shooter". It really feels like a console game in so many ways. The way they've implemented a lot of the PC support is retarded. They didn't need to delay the game to get people to buy the console versions, they should have just clearly explained how the PC version was going to be. The being said though : it's still a very fun game. It takes awhile to get used to the funkyness of the controls but once I did it's bearble and fun to play.
- Vehicle Driving implementation is odd. I guess it's more like how consoles do it. I don't think I've played A PC game that drives like that.
- I wish Crouch and Zoom were toggles and not "press down to use".
- Playing Soldier Medic at lvl 18 with a group is pretty frustrating. I can't reliably keep health up when people are getting hit in the group.
It gets better... and it gets worse. The quests do start to vary, soon you'll get to do other grindy mainstays as
collecting "x" number of items, surrounded by mobs for you to kill!
collect "y" parts to create something, surrounded by mobs for you to kill!.
go "talk to this dude" at "this location, with mobs for you to kill on the way and nearby!
There's an arena challenge (ala Nagrand and whatever the new one in northrend was called in WoW). The quests do at least move in some forward progression for the story, even if you have to grind to get there.

This game is pretty meh to me. Aside from the consolitus that others have mentioned, it seems to have a bit of an mmo grind to it. When I got the first quest to kill 5 random mob type, I was suspicious... then I got 4 or 5 more and it's like wtf? I love mmos and all, but forced grinding has no place single player/small scale multiplayer. D2 had some grindyness to it, but you were always moving towards a goal were as this game you seem to always be side tracked having to kill 8 bandits at this random location and run back to advance the story. Maybe, I just haven't played the game enough, but with the begining of the game already feeling grindy I can't imagine it's going to get any better.
