I'm a soldier. I chose him because I saw that he specialized in shotguns...that was all I needed. However, I'm liking the SMG I got from the "Bonehead" or something like that boss, and the awesome revolver I got. Liquid sniper isn't bad either .

What are you guys playing as? I'm a level 27 Hunter now and I'm having a real love/hate relationship with the game.

I'm currently playing a 38 hunter, 41 berserker, and an 18 siren. What is causing your love/hate with the game? Not digging the hunter? or something else. It really is much more fun doing multiplayer.

Level 50 hunter.

The difficulty, especially at the end game, is practically random. Some enemies which were tough the first time through are now fiendishly difficult. Others, which were fiendishly difficult the first time through, are now a complete joke. Round 2 bosses are largely uninspiring, but armored humans are friggin brutal.

Multiplayer is...uh, mixed. The multiplayer aspects improve the game, though the free-for-all nature of looting means half the time you won't get good loot that would be useful to you.

Unfortunately, the networking lag is atrocious.

I beat the game last night and while the story leading up to the end really grabbed my attention, I was sorely let down by the ending. Truth be told I thought the ending was gay enough that I won't be playing a 2nd time through.

I was a siren and had this class mod that gave me +44% SMG Damage and +10 SMG Ammo Regen and a shield with only 150 units but a very fast health recharge, both obtained around level 18-22 and sustained me until I finished the game at level 36. I never once died because of being killed by an enemy. Mostly it was my dumb ass jumping off a cliff or trying out a new nade type that bounced back at me and sploded in my face >.<

I lost interest in this game pretty fast for several reasons. First, I bought it almost solely with the intention of beating it co-op. While I was busy my co-op partner and another person blitzed to almost level 30. They then offered to 'power level' me to their level from my current level of 7. That took A LOT of the fun out of the game as I missed all kinds of dialog and boss battles consisted of the other two guys mowing people down like grass. Then they beat the game without me, and I'm still level 21. I don't really feel like fiddling around by myself in a dead-feeling MMO-esque shooter I guess.

I have to say that I still like this game. I'm playing 100% as a single player game my first play through. I'll either go co-op or re-roll if I feel like playing after the first play through.

Aside from any bugs, my biggest gripe about the game are the guns... 2 things:

1) I know it's supposed to be a selling point, but there are just too damn many guns dropping all the time. Every time I kill a few dudes I have to compare the drops with my inventory/equipped weapons, which gets old after a while. It would be more fun to get less guns, but get better ones.

2) Why is it that I'm shooting level 18-21 mobs (I'm level 20), and the guns that drop usually have level requirements of 15-17? It would be nice to get an awesome gun that requires me to level up to use. It would give me something to look forward to.

...anyway, aside from these quibbles, I really enjoy this game.

Yea, that'd be pretty rough. I'm like one of your friends who blitzed to the end. We beat playthrough 2 before our other friend had beat playthrough one. Needless to say, the game has lost some of it's charm.

I can see why this would be frustrating - I'd recommend trying to find a game with people your level. It's fun still in multiplayer if you get the right group going.

I've rerolled twice to try to play with people at the right levels - the game singleplayer is somewhat lacking imo. Coop with people is when it is fun and I'm sorry you're missing it =\

...anyway, aside from these quibbles, I really enjoy this game.

1.) Only pay attention to the guns you are specializing in. You should focus on no more than 2 weapon types. (Shotgun/SMG or Sniper/Combat Rifle, etc.) That way you only have to really keep your eyes open for 2 types of guns to upgrade. Trash the rest. Don't worry about picking everything up to sell. By the time you start Playthrough 2, there will be junk white guns that sell for $100k dropping from the first area (Nine Toes area). I had $1 million when I started Playthrough 2, and by the time we killed Nine-Toes I had gotten another $1 million. That's after purchasing a couple $250k+ guns/shields out of the shops too. (751 shield with +40% health and recharge rate of 127? YES PLEASE!)

2.) Get through Playthrough 1 as quickly as possible. Don't even bother with the side quests the first time through. Get to Playthrough 2 because the fights are so much crazier and more fun with 2-3 "Badmutha's" and 5-8 regulars running around. And the guns they drop are a couple levels ahead of you. I'm level 39 now (started Playthrough 2 at 37), and have a few guns that are level 40-43 that I'm really looking forward to using. And that's only after beating Nine-toes plus the 3 other missions in that first zone (Skag Alley).

Seriously people, if you think the game is too easy, or too tame, just beat Playthrough 1 as quickly as possible and get to Playthrough 2 (Nightmare diff if this was Diablo 2). I thought it would be a drag to go through the game again the second time with my main character, but it is waaaay better on Playthrough 2. You collect so much more cash on playthrough 2, it's insane. I only pick up the trash that is $50k+ to sell now, and there is a LOT of it.

39 Zerker focused on Melee skills only, using Shotguns when not zerking. Shields at 751, Health at 1539 (thanks to +health% mods and skills).

Just did my first dungeon. Wow you get way too much crap. I had to run back to sell stuff like 5 times. Also annoying that guys at the beginning of the dungeon respawn.

You don't have to pick up everything to sell ya know. Just grab the best stuff that you can use, and then pick up a few items that sell the highest. Forget the rest, there will be something better that sells for more in the next dungeon, so don't waste your time picking up every single thing in this dungeon, ya know what I'm saying?

Money isn't an issue in this game, you can't trade it so it's worthless. By the time you get to the first area on Playthrough 2, there will be guns that sell for $50k+ that are trash. I started Playthrough 2 at 37 with $1million, and by the time my group beat Nine-Toes I had gotten another $1million.

Just have fun running around shooting everything, don't worry about any items you can't use. Money will be overflowing later on down the road. Items are 10x better on Playthrough 2 as well. I was using a 451 shield with 85 recharge at the end of Playthrough 1. On Playthrough 2 in the vending machine near Nine-Toes I found a 751 shield that added +40% health with recharge rate of 127.

Don't even get me started on the guns. Get through Playthrough 1 as quick as you can, the game really opens up on "nightmare diff" AKA Playthrough 2. All the elite mobs are a blast to fight, the game is tougher and a lot more fun. Playthrough 2 people, that's where it's at.

I really enjoyed my first playthrough of the game. I'm not sure if I'll do a second playthrough any time soon, but I'm going to leave it installed just in case I do.
I liked the pop culture references and just had a fun time with it.
No glitches or crashes and I'm playing on an old 8600GTS at 720p on a 42" screen.
The driving was weird at first, but once you understand it is different and get used to it, it gets much easier. Other than that I had a fun time exploring and fiding the semi-hidden missions (Green Thumb) and such.

I've just completed Playthrough 2 with my Level 50 Lilith, and she's incredibly powerful, it not actually over-powered. There's one gun variant that should be nerfed in this game, it's not the HellFire SMGs, don't worry, I think it's the Double Anarchy ones. I got one of those SMGs, with a Level 26 SMG proficiency, it fires 4 bullets at 98 damage points per click, at medium but especially close range it deals more damage than the best legendary (orange) Shotguns and Combat Rifles I found, I simply "owned" the last boss in Playthrough 2 with it, and it took about 85% of my ammo count (amount at maximum, fully upgraded ammo quantity), firing for about a minute, while barely moving, the poor thing couldn't do anything.

Anyway... Playthrough 2 was much better overall than Playthrough 1, but the same problem in Playthrough 1 persists in Playthrough 2 as well, and that is missions (not regular mobs around, I'm talking about missions) being under-leveled after some point. In Playthrough 1, if a player does all the side-quests until the "Leaving Fyrestone" one, at which point he/she will be around Level 20 (if not more) then ALL the following quests in the game, I do mean ALL of them, will be of the "Trivial" and "Normal" difficulty, which means that about 90% of the remaining quests will be around one to up to four or even five levels UNDER yours, or if you're lucky the remaining 10% being at the same "Normal" level than yours. In other words there's basically no challenge (I repeat, I'm talking about missions here). The only occasional challenges will be found outside of the quests, in regular mobs when sometimes one or two tougher variants will spawn, like the big Spiderants and their "Overlord" variants, for instance.

In Playthrough 2 the exact same issue persists, again by the time you get to leave Fyrestone, which usually means that you're about Level 40 by that point, then all the following missions again are under-leveled, anywhere from one to about five levels weaker, and occasionally having the "Normal" difficulty missions. There's a big difficulty balance issue in this game in terms of mission difficulty. I have no problems with the mobs, it really is just about the missions. And since the missions are all Trivial or Normal their rewards are usually useless other than having the selling value if you do receive an item. I made a thread about that at the Gearbox forums and most of the posters agreed as well when they really noticed the facts, it's clearly there, black on white, and it cannot be denied, the missions after some point in the game offer absolutely no tangible challenges, it's as if the testers only had the time to test their characters up to level 20 or so and then they forgot about the rest, which is why the game IS sometimes tough at the beginning, both in Playthrough 1 and 2, when at first some missions have the red colored text and the difficulty indication being "Tough", "Hard" or even "Impossible" when they are from one to about three levels ABOVE yours. That system works until some point, after which it miserably fails.

But, other than that, it's fun, outside of the numerous other issues in the game. It's very sad though, because as of now, after finally reaching Level 50, completing all side-quests and the main quest and being stuck in Playthrough 2 with newly leveled foes at Level 51 with the new SuperBad and Bully variants I am finally getting decent and pretty much constant challenges. At this point about 90% of the enemies I meet are doing attacks I had never seen before, especially the Scythids and Spiderants, and the Bandits spawn with absolutely cruel gun variants that can cut through my 1395 points Shield with 146 recharge capacity, and that my only saving grace is my Mind Games skill when it kicks in. That kind of challenge should have been on my path at least occasionally in both Playthrough (and in Playthrough 2 before beating the last boss, before all foes re-level when that boss is beaten, I mean).

Start the second playthrough, you won't be disappointed. Much more fun than Playthrough 1. (see post above)

This game was fun, but way too easy. Even the end boss was simply a matter of standing in one spot and shooting. Took no brains at all. Oh and the ending was the worst ending in a game, ever.

It's just so damn easy.. Only a couple times did the enemies actually pose a challenge. They totally failed at game balancing. Either that or it was intentional for all the losers playing FPS games on consoles.

(1) - I encountered the same thing and decided if the value of the item isn't above a certain amount, then I just ignore it and continue on with the area [quest].

(2) /agree. I picked up a level 3 purple gun when running around Level 13 areas - awesome stats for a level 3 - terribad for level 13.

Money isn't an issue in this game, you can't trade it so it's worthless.

No, you can't trade with other players. But, unlike in Diablo, the vendors in borderlands will still have things worth buying at level 50 - the specials can be dark orange legendaries. 3 of my hunters 4 weapons are store specials, bought at 1.5-2 million each.

More stuff drops on playthrough 2, yes, but in practice you're much more likely to find something useful to you in a shop special.

Of course, a high level hunter can respec to give the bird +5 item drop on hit, and practically gets a license to print money. Dunno how it works for other classes.

It is easy on single player and progressively harder with more players. Although the last boss is a pushover, and if you're like most people you probably did all the side quests before finishing and thus out leveled the last missions making it easier on yourself.

Played to lvl 15, found the story VERY boring / non-existent on the 360. Not sure how people are liking this game.

The story only brings you questions, so I would ignore it for now. They are planning on exploring it further later with either DLC or sequels/prequels.

If storyline is required for you to enjoy a game, I'm surprised you'd try a game such as borderlands. The gameplay is the driving force and the storyline was a secondary concern at best, as with all rogue-likes, and this was hardly kept secret.

Did the whole thing in 2 player coop.

Sorry but if doing side quests was the cause of out leveling the game then that's a pretty sad mistake.

That's what happened to me. I made the unforgivable mistake of doing non-plot missions and waltzed through the final missions one shotting people with my overpowered revolver of turning people into green goo.
