Botched 2000 pro install

I have an older P3 computer that was running 98SE. I was fine and happy with it, but since everyone in the office is running 2k I decided to upgrade to that OS. The trouble is that instead of updating, it loaded 2K as a dual boot and I did not want that. So I deleted the winnt folder and went to reload it. It will not let me reload as an upgrade as it thinks it is still loaded on the hd. So I thought screw it, I am happy w/ 98 and this computer has never given me a bit of trouble with it. As I boot now I have the dual boot screen yet even though 2K is gone. Here is what I would like to do (finally he gets to it) I would like to load 2K as an update rather than dual boot OR I'd like to go back to the way it was with just 98 and no dual boot opening screen. Any help appreciated.

1 - to take out the boot screen:
Open win explorer
Tools/preferences - select that you would like to see ALL files, including HIDDEN and SYSTEM files.
Search for a file 'boot.ini'
Open that in Notepad
Delete the file system you don't want to be in there.
SAVE

Reboot - see if that worked.

2 - to upgrade
Run Win2k CD again from Win98
Select the option you want - upgrade.
