Putting my new system together (Antec P280, Seasonic X-750 Gold PSU)...
I love Seasonic, but I was miffed to discover that the CPU cable is annoyingly short and can barely reach the MB's CPU connector. I have to stretch it over the top of the video card - it's too short to go around the vid card or behind the MB. So now I've had to order an extender cable for it.
Then, trying to plug in the SATA power cables to the drives, I discover that I can't use a single chain of plugs because all the cable's connectors are "upside down" in relation to the direction I need to run them (bottom to top).
It struck me that both these problems are because the PSU cables were designed with the expectation that the PSU would be at the top of the case.
The thing is, bottom-mounted PSUs seem to be the way things are going. At least, I don't think I saw any top-mount PSU cases at all among the ones I looked at while case shopping.
I got my X-750 at a great deal, so I can't really complain, but I'm curious if the PSU manufacturers have started making better efforts to accomodate bottom-mount cases in their latest products? Ie: if I bought a Seasonic Platinum 1000 instead, would I have had the same issues?
