Bottom mount specialized PSU's?

Putting my new system together (Antec P280, Seasonic X-750 Gold PSU)...

I love Seasonic, but I was miffed to discover that the CPU cable is annoyingly short and can barely reach the MB's CPU connector. I have to stretch it over the top of the video card - it's too short to go around the vid card or behind the MB. So now I've had to order an extender cable for it.

Then, trying to plug in the SATA power cables to the drives, I discover that I can't use a single chain of plugs because all the cable's connectors are "upside down" in relation to the direction I need to run them (bottom to top).

It struck me that both these problems are because the PSU cables were designed with the expectation that the PSU would be at the top of the case.

The thing is, bottom-mounted PSUs seem to be the way things are going. At least, I don't think I saw any top-mount PSU cases at all among the ones I looked at while case shopping.

I got my X-750 at a great deal, so I can't really complain, but I'm curious if the PSU manufacturers have started making better efforts to accomodate bottom-mount cases in their latest products? Ie: if I bought a Seasonic Platinum 1000 instead, would I have had the same issues?

did you just get it from newegg for $110 like me?

i find case manufacturers have taken it upon themselves to rip you off with extensions and other cabling to accommodate their cases. the seasonics are a ballbuster because the psu-side plugs are impossible to find and they don't offer any cables that fit. silverstone uses the same easy to find plugs on both ends, and offers a short cable pack.

My HAF 932 case came with an EPS 12V extension cable. Good thing...the Corsair stock cable was just --> <-- too short to run it behind the board and to the connector.

The necessary extension cables are available in a variety of styles.

Fancy & sleeved:

Plain and cheap (what Coolermaster sent with my case)

Obviously, adapters/extension cables aren't the most ideal way to deal with this...but it works. The PSU manufacturers don't offer longer cables in most cases.

Yeah, I was planning to buy an X-850 Gold, but I saw that $110 deal and had to jump on it. Dropping to 750W when I didn't really need more was worth it to save $100.

It's definitely a ripoff on the cabling, that's why I was hoping to hear that the PSU makers had started accomodating the bottom mount cases.

@BoomerD:
That's nice that your case came with the extension. I had to buy an extension for my old Silverstone TJ09 case too. And thanks for the link to the sleeved cables - I wish I had seen that before I ordered a plain one from Newegg.
