Of course the graphics are better in HL2, BF2, and Far Cry...they're newer.
Halo was one of the best games I've played. The single player sucked? HL2 single player is the one that sucks. All you're doing is shooting cool guns and sqeezing smelly bug-balls so that big bugs will attack things. And the story is going nowhere...HL and HL2 are the most under developed plotted games I've ever seen. (The gravity gun was a plus though) Halo, your leading mariens into death, shooting cool guns, punching and sticking gernades on aliens, while plowing through them in a warthog, all the while being immersed in an actual plot. Beats HL hands down.
I can see why you would own a PC for BF2 and HL2 though. (You should be ashamed of owning one for Far Cry. I'm ashamed to actually own the game. Mutant monkeys???) BF2 is a great game for its intened purpose: to fight other actual people in a stimmulating environment while being able to do anything you want. HL2 was a graphically wonderful game. Although it seemed to go overboard with the "man-on-the-run" feel, it was always nice to see such awkward structures that looked amazing with their environment and the feel of the game.
I'm just saying that Halo had more than HL in the fact that they were both close its just that Halo had/s an actual story. (Halo 2 sucks big donkey d*** though)
Never played HL2 aside from the demo, but Halo single player is bad. Only the Silent Cartographer and The Maw showed any trace of originality; the rest were just copied hallways and alien ships. Never said that HL had a great plot but it's about on par with Halo. Neither really had much dialogue nor did they have anything to read in them like in Marathon with the computer terminals. Aside from the Needler, the guns aren't that cool. Other games had vehicular manslaughter before Halo as well, like Red Faction.
How does having mutant monkeys make a game bad? They were stolen from Quake, true. But the gameplay in Far Cry is awesome and probably the best right now. Never played BF2 or HL2 so I won't defend or attack them. What story did Halo have? You play as a cyborg, have your ship attacked by aliens, flee, crash on the Halo, kill aliens, unleash mutants, and flee again. Not very much.

Halo 1 is contiunuously story driven, probably the only level not so well done are the library. Some other levels are nothing short of brilliant, the maw is great, havent seen a single game which ends in such a great way, prolly one of the funnest parts in the game.
For its time the scenery of halo is really good, especially the ring in the sky. Its just stupid that the desided to srew up the story and gameplay in halo 2, just to have good multiplayer, and even multiplayer missed the smaller maps. There is nothing more funner that rockets in wizzard, i think the longest that anyone ever survived was 30 seconds.
Never particularly liked farcry, scenery is good, but thats the only thing the game is worth, character models are crap, so is the story. mutated monkeys hehe .
The Library is not the only bad part. What about level one? You just walk through nearly endless hallways and vents killing aliens with almost no change at all. Then there's level two, with twenty identical dropships filled with the exact same aliens. Or the snow levels, were you do an entire level all over again but backwards.
The scenery of Far Cry is not its only positive. The AI is great, the realistic damage and gameplay is great, and the game is pretty long as well. Once again, what's so bad about mutated monkeys? As if two foot tall purple aliens that giggle and scream with plasma pistols are so much better.
