Have fun with your downloads expiring, non-boycotters.
I never go to EA.com or any of their other sites, never used Origin, never bought anything from the EA site or their service, and never, ever will. If Activision had a similar service I would say the same thing about them.
Fuck both companies.
Really? I could have sworn you said in the Star Wars thread that you were going to buy that game. Last I heard the only way you could play it was through Origin.
Guess you'll be passing it up then..
The difference is of course - one is EA and the other one has better PR (and fanboys to defend it).
i can't really see much difference between Origin and Steam - they are both DRM disguised as services for gamers.
- The difference is of course - one is evil EA and the other one (Saint Steam) has better PR (and the fanboys to defend it).
:whiste:
Which is?
My guess is, EA has more "practice" at being evil
Steam will work up to it, no worries

What does this got to do with Origin?EA has a reputation for forcing games out the door too early when they have major obvious issues. They're also known for withholding DLC and patches from the PC gaming community. The PC version of their games are usually nothing more than sloppy ports; completely unlike valve.
I'll use Origin when I get the physical Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 3, so I can download and play it without the disc, and maybe if I ever get The Old Republic since it's an Origin exclusive download. Otherwise I won't use it.
The Old Republic is an Origin exclusive download???

When's the last time Valve rushed a game? Plus Valve supports their SDK, offers things for free, more etc. etc.
.
Nothing to do with Origin specifically, but points towards how untrustworthy EA are when it comes to PC gamers.
Oh and...
See I can do it too.
I still can't find any info on this. I'm pretty sure the digital version is the "Origin exclusive," but you can always just buy a physical copy that has NOTHING to do with origin.
Origin is the only place to get the digital version of The Old Republic. It was announced right after they announced Origin around E3.

If you plan on downloading The Old Republic, then get ready to cozy up to EA's version of Steam, because it's the only place on the internet you'll be able to get it.
In what amounts to a preview of its Monday E3 press conference, EA recently told The Wall Street Journal about its plans to establish a game download service along the lines of Valve's Steam service or Gamestop's Impulse service.
First off: Origin is a fantastic new digital initiative from EA, and we're pleased to confirm that Star Wars: The Old Republic will be available exclusively for digital download from Origin.
However, even though you'll only be able to buy and download The Old Republic digitally via Origin, you will still be able to buy a retail, boxed copy of the game from your favorite retailer (and that includes online retailers who’ll ship the box to you). BioWare and EA know the value many gamers place on a cool boxed product... and we’re producing a cool boxed product. (Or maybe I should say 'boxed products'.)
