I was too lazy to wake up for black friday sales, so I finally woke up at 9am, to go to work (I live in west LA)...

On the way to work, I realized I need a switch for a client of mine, so I thought what the hell let me stop at best buy. It was a friggn zoo, at 9:30am I couldnt even find parking, so I just parked in an illegal area and thought what the hell.

Anyways I go inside, find a cheapo switch and then look around at all the flyers and the specials. So i walk up to an employee behind the computer counter and ask him if most of the stuff has sold out? he said lonnnggg ago

So I asked if he had any of the following left: toshiba laptop for $649, 75gig hdd and 256 ram for $49 or the geforce 4200 for $89... after about 5 minutes the guy still hadn't returned from whereever he walked off to, and I was about to go because i was really late for work now. Anyways, the guy comes back with ALL 3 things, and I bought them and left the store....

what luck!

File this under the "BRAG" section

Did anyone with a Microcenter near them get in on the $20 CD writer deal? I went to ours around 10:30am, and there were about 100 or so left (the ad said they had 300 to start with). The ad stated it was a 48x12x48, which for $20 was a steal (no rebates or anything, $20 was the price out the door!). Anyway, got it home and unpacked it. The box says 48x12x48 but the actual drive was a 48x24x48 Liteon. Anyway, not a bad deal and I feel sorry for those of you without Microcenters

I was much better in fry's industry, I only wait 2hr 45min for the check out line, compare to 5 hr, I have no complain.

I hit OfficeMax for some of their FAR offers. I got the Cendyne 16x DVD-ROM, two different 100-paks of CD-R, a 100-pak of slimline jewel cases, Pentel Sunburst gel pens, a Belkin 8-plug surge suppressor, and 3 T-120 VHS tapes. I also picked up some buy one get one free AAA batteries.

That was at 7:00AM. I hit Fred Meyer next (kind of like a Walmart) where I utilized a 25% off coupon for software and picked up Chamber of Secrets game (for kids), SIMS Unleashed (wife and kids), and Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza (me). I think it was like $55 for all three.

I have some questions about the rebate on the jewel cases from OfficeMax. The item pictured in the ad and the item I purchases are identical and are branded Value Disc. However, the rebate forms (two of them) that are for jewel cases in the OfficeMax rebate pamphlet are for Khypermedia brand. I wonder if those are the same????

outlets > BB & fry's... (wait-wise).
it took me 1 hr to find parking + decide that line was too long to wait @ fry's
as opposed to 10 minutes finding parking (i got lucky) and hardly any lines @ outlets.

HD woulda been nice. so would've been a new PDA... but I'm happy with all the clothes I got off for 30-50% off
i wish they had some electronic outlet stores there too...

btw: did anybody notice how EMPTY the costco lots were? lol. crazy. (yes they were open)

Black Friday was Black. All I got this year was three FAR items: Staples on-line 2.0 usb card, a 32 meg cf and a keyboard from Compusa, that I had to stand in line an hour for. Last year I got a printer and a scanner FAR at Staples.

I think Amazon b jackin up prices based on how many hits a product gets or something...
Last night I had clicked on this one DVD more than a few times and put it in my basket and took it out... the price was under $10... today it's $14....

On another note... I spent like an eternity on their site trying to find their customer service number...
it was IMPOSSIBLE! I wound up googling it up...

BAH!

All I can say is what the heck is wrong with some of you people? Get up at 4AM, wait around a couple hours for a store to open, then if you're lucky enough to get what you wanted, wait in line to check out for another 2 to 5!!! hours to save what - $20 or $30??? Do you realize you "worked" for about $4/hour? My sleep and my time are a lot more valuable than that...got up late, sat on my butt and ordered what I wanted online in my pajamas - never had to face the elements or the hundreds of other crazies in line.

My 2 cents...

hallf,

We did it for fun and satisfaction. Do you think I *really* needed 200 CD-R? Was I dying for an 8-plug surge suppressor? Did I need the third computer in the house to have it's own DVD-ROM drive?

Not really. I did the Black Friday mostly for fun. And some savings on some items I really did want to get anyway (SIMS Unleashed for 25% off, for example).

My town is small enough that I actually ran into people I knew, and I also helped a few people find the right items from the ads at OfficeMax, where they routinely do NOTHING to indicate which items are the sale items. (and I mean *NOTHING*, like not even bother having any on the shelves, but having some in storage).

I had nothing better to do. I go for the excitement to catch a deal and watch the fools that come to the store 5 minutes before opening thinking they are going to get any of the door busters, meanwhile people screaming profanities at them for trying to cut into the line. Waiting on line is more of a test of endurance. If you can't hack it or it doesn't suit you, well fine.. just don't go crying you didn't get the CDRW drive for $10 or whatever if you're too lazy to get out of bed. Well maybe it is worth the time as $4/hour to some people because they can't go to work whenever they want.. this is a chance for them to make their money go a little further when they couldn't go to work anyway. Like Maetryx, I also went out for fun and had a ball.

I got to BB at 5am, and was #78 in line. They were handing out vouchers for the CDRW, 75GB HDD+256MB PC133, Lexmark Printer, DVD Player, $99 Digicam and some other stuff. I asked if they were handing out vouchers for the $89 Ti4200 and they said no, it was first-come, first-serve. I snagged the LAST 75GB HDD voucher and the person in front of me got the last CDRW vouch which wasn't a biggie since I already have a 48X CDRW. The digicam vouchers were gone by the 30th person. The first thing I headed for was the $89 Ti4200, and by the time I got there they were ALL gone. What was strange was that there was only room for 5 card boxes on the shelf, and the ad guaranteed minimum 10 per store, so I was pretty peeved. I then ran over to the Digicam area and picked up a 128MB CompactFlash for $30, then went and snagged the three PS2 Greatest Hits games that were $9.99 each and the $9.99 memory card, all for my cousin for Christmas. After that I got in the extremely long line and checked out 45 minutes later.

I read the AT forums last night and had found out that some people had gotten lucky going back to BB later in the day and finding the Ti4200's in stock, so I went back this morning @ 9:00am, and they were still all out and the employee in that aisle said that they were sold out since yesterday morning and weren't getting any more in.

Around 7:30pm today I ran to BB again with my fiance to pick up an optical digital cable to hook up my PS2 to my receiver, and figured I would run by the video card aisle for the hell of it. Lo and behold, there were FOUR Ti4200's on the shelf! My fiance and I bought all four of them (Yes they are for friends, not for reselling on eBay!) and went home very happy!

[edit] My brothers and their friends went to a different BB at 5am on Friday and snagged one 75GB HDD deal and 4 of the $99 Digicams. And yes, I did it for the experience, too! It's once a year and it was fun to chit-chat with the people in line and collectively freeze our butts off. I also waited in line for 6 hours with a friend to get tickets for Star Wars Episode One just for the experience of it!
Mark me down in the BRAG category, too!

In august there was this deal at staples where after a PM and a 20 dollar coupon you could get a Maxtor 80 gig HD for 89 dollars. Well, there were 2 30 dollar MIR which brought it down to 30 dollar for a 80 gigger :Q

A few weeks after I bought it, there was ANOTHER 30 dollar MIR and the date was still between when i purchased it!! :Q Just last week I received my final MIR.

Staples paid me 1 dollar to take an 80 gig HD

Arrived at best buy at around 5:40. Waited in line not knowing there were going to be voucher system and I looked at a store map where the 75gig/Ram combo would be distributed and waited in line for about 30 minutes till one guy found out about the voucher and about half the people in the line left (cause they too didn't know of the voucher). That was the only thing I wanted there so I decided to go to Compusa for the heck of it. Pick up free 32meg CF card for free after rebate and a 20 buck 20gig maxtor HD. Still wished I could have gotten in on the 75gig/ram deal.

Got the $100 ZE4101 rebate check from HP today, might get an extra $100 Staples gift card if I get lucky. $600 for a ZE4101 is pretty good, but $500 would be awesome

I ordered two dell 4550 (P4 1.8GHz) for $860 before two $100 rebates. I got an email saying that they had a problem with my card, so I gave another card number.

I checked my order and found out they canceled my original order and placed a new order on Dec 5. So I am not eligible for $200 rebates.(The rebate expired on Dec 4)

I called them up and they placed a new order for $650. NO REBATES....man..Two Dells for $650..

Thought I'd share my bragging! Officially got my 80 gig Western Digital hard drive with the 8 MB cache for ~$40

Took advantage of the deal back when CompUSA had the instore only promotion where you had to bring in the internet ad printed out for $79.99 but did not specify it was after rebates but it was a YMMV for many people or some had luck pricematching at Circuit City however my CompUSA pricematched it. So I sent in the $40 MIR that came with it and I just got it today!

50 cents/gig...woohoo!
