It sounds like this game has a few things going for it, one being seamless multiplayer and single player. A lot of how well this turns out depends on the quality of the bot AI, but sometimes it is fun to play on your own when you want to, and I like that you have the same character/attributes/levels accumulating either online or off.

I also like the tighter range of basic combat capabilities for classes. Classes in TF2 are so specialized, from what I understand any of the medic/eng/soldier/spy can pick up and use any weapon in Brink, it is more your character's chosen body type that limits your weapon options.

Regarding the same character between online and offline, I hope it does not mean needing a active internet connection for offline/single player mode. All those systems so far have sucked for me. I put that down to living out side the US for most of the games (ie: we do not exist for the game developers, but they still want our money).

As to the classes, it reminds me more of the older Tribes style games. Will be interesting to hear a review from a old time tribes player on the topic of classes before spending money on this game.

I'm worried that no one is talking about this game. It seems right up my alley but with so little hype, it doesn't seem like many will be playing it.

I've just purchased my copy from D2D with the 25% off code. Plugged that CD Key into Steam and preloaded it already. I sure hope it does well!

First impressions - not great. Feels incredibly consolized, shooting seems to be a whole lot of spray & pray, movement feels like I'm playing Gears of War.

I played ETQW quite a bit and that still felt like a PC game. This has so obviously been developed with consoles as the primary focus. I'm going to give it more of a chance as I've only been playing for about 45 minutes, but so far... ugh.

IGN gave it a 6.0. Granted, they gave one of the worst games of all-time a great score (Halo:ODST), but still... this is not good news and I can't see myself buying Brink for anything over $15.

When IGN gives a game a low score you know something is wrong. I didn't think those guys had ever met a game that didn't deserve at least an 8 lol

Where's the IGN review? I'd be very surprised if IGN gave any major game below a 7.0.

It's hard finding a decent server right now, but I hope that will get sorted out quickly. The art style and customization options are very nice. Dynamic map objectives are well executed. Shooting does feel pretty run of the mill, CODish, and the advertised parkour movement is no where near Mirror's Edge. I'll reserve judgement until I can get a few more 8v8 rounds in on a good server.

Edit: only 2 reviews on metacritic. Nvm, saw the video review, ouch!

g_fov is also broken right now - when you hit duck or sprint it seems to switch back to the default (70) until the move is finished. Hope they at least fix that soon...

Wow, what a disaster. So glad I didn't get fooled into preordering this.

Too bad, they had some good ideas.

lol, maybe so that people couldn't cancel their preorders.

If they had all along allowed reviews to go up today, everyone would have canceled their preorder in the intervening week.

FOV is just waaayy too narrow

I'm also playing on a 1080p 120Hz monitor on a single GTX580. I can easily tweak the graphics to where I'm consistently getting well above 120fps, however the game simply doesn't feel as smooth and fluid as other competitive shooters I play such as Left 4 Dead or Bad Company 2, and especially the most recent new game I have played - Portal 2. It kind of feels like the engine is limited to 60fps even though the game will render faster. And I don't even know if that's necessarily the case as games like Mirror's Edge - that are actually capped at 60fps - feel smoother

sometimes choppiness is caused by massive tearing but that can't be it because even vsync doesn't help
